[Mudrock cosplay] Arknights Tactical Juggernaut: Sharing Convention Photos

Here is the share of my Mudrock convention photos taken at the Arknights-only event. Starting with the overall styling, it follows a tactical design rooted in black, white, and gray. I wore a gray off-the-shoulder inner layer underneath a snug black corset with white cross-lacing across the chest, draped with a white hooded half-cape bearing a red-and-white cross insignia on the shoulder. For the bottom, I paired black tactical trousers featuring subtle golden textures with a square tactical thigh bag secured by black straps on the left leg.

For hair and makeup, to faithfully embody Mudrock, I styled a white wig topped with long black spiral horns, attached long pointed elf ears, and wore crimson circle lenses paired with cool-toned eye makeup to project a stern, resolute aura. I also wore distinctive geometric hairpieces and earrings.

The prop hammer looks formidable, and holding it in hand carries noticeable heft; my wrists started aching after posing with it for long periods. The elongated shaft features a metallic gradient coat, while the square geometric hammerhead is studded with spikes, delivering a distinctly hardcore aesthetic.

With heavy foot traffic in the hall on the day of the shoot, we chose a clean, light-colored marble wall as our background, making the subject pop while facilitating post-processing. The photographer managed the shoot, adjusting reflector angles according to the venue's light to ensure sufficient illumination on my face. We ran through several rounds of posing—first shooting profile compositions gripping the hammer, then testing two-handed holds and forward-facing swings. He suggested trying more battle-ready angles to emphasize Mudrock's heavy armored presence.

Because the outfit is form-fitting, the black corset felt rather constricting, and running around the venue in a heavy coat made things quite warm. Still, to capture the character's demeanor, these physical discomforts were an expected part of the journey. Standing before the lens with the hammer required balancing muscular tension to project a calm, commanding aura. My biggest takeaway was that a tactical-style character relies heavily on posture and eye intensity to carry the atmosphere.

I specifically chose the profile shot holding the hammer from photo two as the lead image. This angle flatteringly showcases waist-to-leg proportions, and resting the hammer horizontally creates fluid lines with a rugged, tough edge. Finding unoccupied backgrounds amid the dense crowd at the Arknights-only event required lots of maneuvering and waiting for clear gaps, but fortunately the hit rate was solid. A minor hiccup occurred when the wind tilted my wig slightly, which the photographer caught and fixed right away. To complement the combat attitude, I practiced dropping my shoulders and sharpening my gaze, and the resulting look worked out nicely.

In terms of lighting, the overhead fixtures in the hall were messy and slightly warm, so we opted for fill light to make my skin tone and red eyes stand out clearly. Wearing this tactical gear cosplay setup was physically demanding—with armor pieces, a thigh bag, and a giant hammer taking up room, moving across the convention floor required extreme care. As a tactical gear enthusiast, I was thoroughly satisfied with the texture of the snug corset and tactical trousers. With this shoot behind me, next time I portray a military-styled character, I plan to incorporate poses with a lower center of gravity to better convey that grounded heft.
