Capturing the moments of these two battle stances, I honestly felt like my whole body was being twisted into a pretzel by the photographer's viewfinder.

Fellow cosplayers who frequently do outdoor shoots or attend conventions will understand that behind such dynamic shots filled with visual tension lies a ton of bitter sweat and tears. Looking at the two photos I posted—especially the wide stride and leg stretch below—it looks effortlessly poised and breezy on the surface, but in reality, I had to keep my core fully engaged the entire time to stabilize my body. During the shoot that day, I joked with the photographer that this was definitely "a photographer torturing a corporate drone into striking battle stances," because joint angles and eye-lines had to be locked tight onto specific tension points; slacken for even a second, and the character's strength and dimensional presence would completely collapse.

Cosplaying really demands physical fitness—I didn't quite believe it before, but now I know from firsthand experience. Bringing a character like Nico to life requires not only pulling off this light blue cropped top and frayed shorts, but also looking visually light yet explosive with power. Managing the wig was also meticulous work; this long pink curly wig paired with the yellow cat-ear headband easily loses detail under dark studio lighting, which really tests the depth of the makeup and facial contours.

The details of this costume are exceptionally rich. The waist area uses black wide-mesh cosplay fishnet stockings to connect with the shorts, which not only elongates the figure effectively, but also brings a techwear edge and street-style sexiness. The pink heart-studded metal buckles on the shorts, the camo-green accessories, and that unique leopard-print tail on the side are all vital elements forming the character's iconic appearance. The white-and-pink sleeves on the arms paired with golden ring cuffs at the wrists give the overall look rich color saturation, looking radiant under overhead lighting without overpowering the composition.

Many people wonder how that wide-stride photo was captured. In a dimly lit venue environment, lighting is absolutely critical. With the overhead spotlight beaming down, crisp shadows formed on the floor, creating an authentic arena atmosphere. My center of gravity was pressed entirely onto my supporting leg while keeping the lines of my upper body and extended arm smooth and fluid. This wasn't something you could pull off just by casually dropping to the ground; I tried at least a dozen times to capture a single instant where dynamics, expression, and composition were all flawless.

Although my back and muscles ached after pulling off these poses—and I kept joking while reviewing the raw shots that "these moves are straight-up inhuman"—seeing the final retouched photos made all the pain worthwhile. Lately I've been prepping new gear, planning to get a pair of white chunky-heeled shoes for a different upcoming style. While I'm still gradually releasing this backlog of Nico photos, that feeling of gradually refining a character has given me fresh motivation for anime conventions.

It was quite busy at the venue that day. Even though I brought my own photographer for a private shoot, I still met many passionate friends. Seeing all the heavy camera lenses around, I was initially a bit nervous, worried my poses wouldn't be precise enough. Later, I relaxed and immersed myself in the character's personality, which made the final results look much more natural. The confidence shown in the photos is largely credited to the photographer's precise timing. If you happened to take photos of me at the venue that day, you were probably just watching me do endless stretching in place.

Looking at these two completed photos, although the stances were undeniably exhausting, they truly captured the character's essence and uninhibited spirit. When the final convention photos can make viewers' eyes light up, all the previous gritting of teeth and repeated retakes turn into cherished behind-the-scenes memories.
