[Patchouli Cosplay] Cozy Book-Flipping Time in the Touhou Project Library

The theme of this shoot is the familiar library administrator, but today I'm not looking up data; I'm purely giving myself a vacation to slack off in the archives. Seeing friends in the comment section saying "Mukyu is slacking off in the library again today," it's true—holding this thick book with gem decorations on the cover and leaning against the carved leather chair feels more like enjoying a leisurely afternoon than leafing through magic grimoires. To restore the character's temperament, I specially chose this light purple fluffy wig this time, doing many layers of curling and teasing. The curvature of the hair ends happens to rest right on the shoulders without looking too heavy, and paired with white bow hair accessories, the overall look's sense of lightness comes out. The dress is a customized replica featuring Lolita fashion, with about four layers of ruffles and lace inside and out. The dark grey trim on the skirt hem is the crowning touch, keeping the large area of light colors from being too monotonous. The biggest headache during the shoot was the sitting posture. Because the skirt hem was too puffy, adjusting an angle that could reveal the upper-body details without letting the fabric pile into a giant clump made the photographer and me mess around on that chair for nearly half an hour before finding a comfortable composition. However, I am highly satisfied with the final light and shadow effects. Warm-toned lighting hits from the side, bringing out the gold dust and gem texture on the book cover. Along with the brass globe and deep wooden bookshelf in the background, paired with this slightly tilted perspective, it enhances that immersive fantasy study room feeling even more during this Vintage study room photography session. Regarding props, besides the book, there was actually a vintage desk lamp with a white lampshade nearby, though we didn't turn it up too bright while shooting to avoid stealing attention from the main subject. To prevent the background from looking too empty, the books on the shelf were intentionally arranged in a scattered manner—some upright, some leaning—paired with a few reference books stacked directly on the floor, bringing out a slice-of-life feel. For this attempt at warm-toned post-production without excessive skin smoothing, I preserved the texture of the clothing fabric and the hair flow of the wig, hoping to let everyone see a more textured cosplay output. Overall, although this costume is heavy to wear, the atmosphere during the shooting process was truly excellent. Quietly reading, spacing out, and enjoying an undisturbed reading time—this is exactly the feeling I wanted to convey.
