Today's set of Peipei cosplay photos is finally organized and ready. The shoot took place at the Qimi Huanjing studio, where the entire set was decorated with an intense exotic aesthetic. The floor was cushioned with intricate Persian-patterned pillows, an antique bronze chest was tucked in the corner, and the background featured golden string curtains and deep-red draping fabrics. Combined with warm orange lighting, it fostered a mysterious and opulent atmosphere.
Let's talk costume details. The black hood on my head is the anchor of the look, edged with gold piping and dangling golden pendants, topped with white accents that feel high quality. For hair, I went with fluffy, chestnut-brown long curls; the heavy blunt bangs frame the face nicely. The top is a black long-sleeved shirt with gold-striped cuffs, while the bottom is a blue skirt adorned with golden patterns. A black strap is fastened around the thigh alongside intricate strappy shoes, creating distinct visual layers. Even during the initial fitting, the costume showed immense craftsmanship—especially the hood's gold borders, which caught lighting beautifully, while the contrast between the blue skirt and black top delivered great visual punch.
To make the character more memorable, I held an orange candy prop in my mouth, wore rings on my fingers, and painted my nails black. Posing-wise, I tried a low squat, lifting my right hand into a playful gesture while leaning my left hand against the cushion, striving to capture her languid yet mysterious aura. Gazing straight into the lens through bright blue contacts, I hoped to convey an eye contact that pierces straight to the soul. Holding this squat was actually quite a test of core strength; to stay stable while keeping lines natural, I shifted my center of gravity multiple times before finding an angle that showcased leg details while remaining relaxed.
Warm-toned lighting played a pivotal role throughout. The photographer, @赤豆饼饼, was brilliant at capturing light, utilizing background string reflections to yield stunning bokeh flares. We also poured thought into prop arrangement: a red-draped table on the left held silver candlesticks and glassware, mirrored by golden candelabras and bronze-trimmed wooden chests on the right, with a bowl of crystal shards in the foreground to fill out the composition. These textures enriched the visual depth so the scene never felt flat. The shooting process was genuinely fun; because the set was tightly packed, my movement and poses were naturally restricted. Yet this suited the mood of lounging lazily within an intimate hideaway. Lowering my center of gravity, resting my left fingertips lightly on the cushion, and shaping my right hand through angles practiced in the mirror helped maintain that effortless look. The nail shade and ring pairings echoed the darker, mysterious tone, while the blue eyes pierced through the warm environment, breaking any potential gloom.
To align with Peipei's themes in Arknights—such as Leaving the sun behind, jungle dilemmas, and Arknights: Sur le lac Lune Vivante—we wove these motifs into the lighting atmosphere and pose direction. Interpreting a character goes beyond putting on the costume; it demands understanding her expressions. I kept regulating my breathing to relax my body, and although prolonged squatting made my legs go numb, seeing the lighting and tactile textures come alive in the final pictures made every second worthwhile. Cosplay creation is a fresh journey every time, demanding careful refinement from costume fitting to set coordination and emotional expression. For instance, in prop placement, rather than piling everything directly in front, we leveraged varying pillow heights to establish organic foreground and background layering. In Cosplay photography, pre-production often dictates the upper limit of the final result. From verifying fabrics to finalizing color schemes, every step requires dedication. The warm palette heavily tested skin tones against wardrobe colors; the black top leaned slightly grey under warm lights, so post-grading dialed up the contrast to deepen the black while letting the vibrant blue skirt sing. When working with an IP like Arknights, cosplaying always brings healthy pressure because players hold deep affection for the characters. Channelling elements like Leaving the sun behind and Arknights: Sur le lac Lune Vivante, we dedicated extensive care to lighting and sets to faithfully recreate that exotic adventure feel. The props at Qimi Huanjing studio were stellar; those golden candlesticks and ornate rug patterns added immense value. We explored diverse lighting angles, ultimately locking in a strong side-backlight setup that sculpted gorgeous rim lighting along hair and garment edges.
