The character I cosplayed this time is Female Rover from Wuthering Waves. The overall styling leans heavily into combat aesthetics, and preparing this setup took considerable time just refining the details. The wig was trimmed into textured, feathered layers and styled into a high ponytail, adorned with a black bow and golden feather-shaped ornaments at the back to enhance dynamism and sharpness. To ensure the hairstyle held firm through dynamic movements without getting disheveled, plenty of styling products were used before shooting. For the makeup, focus was placed on sharpening eye contours, deepening the outer corners with dark eyeshadow and complementing them with deep dark-red lip glaze to present that cold, resolute, and heroic look before the lens. The base makeup was kept matte to eliminate unwanted shine.

The costume is packed with intricate details and took quite a while to put on. The upper body features a primarily black leather combat suit with spliced fabrics and cutouts that demand strict body control; the arms have black vambraces, and the waist is cinched with a broad grey belt and metal buckles, flanked by golden tassels and decorative knots. These accessories sway naturally during larger motions, injecting abundant movement into the frames. The lower half combines over-the-knee black patent leather boots with black stockings—the boots have sky-high heels with thick front platforms and distinctive red soles. To properly carry this look, I made deliberate postural adjustments before shooting; because the garments are form-fitting, an upright, taut posture had to be maintained throughout the session.

The greatsword prop in my hand has a black blade edged with a vivid yellow stripe, carrying noticeable heft. The shoot took place indoors on a terrazzo floor with clean reflections, framed by metal doors and floor-to-ceiling glass. To align with the theme of Echoes, the photographer suggested trying powerful, impactful poses. The lunge-and-glance pose in photo three was physically demanding: with one knee bent and the other leg extended straight, my entire center of gravity relied on the rear leg for support. Balancing on over-ten-centimeter heels while holding this stance required serious core engagement to avoid wobbling. Simultaneously, the sword had to remain stable at an exact angle while my head turned back, eyes locking firmly onto the lens. After several takes, my thigh muscles were practically trembling. Yet this tension captured the essence of a character in battle, so despite the fatigue, I pushed to hold that perfect form for the shutter.

In front of the camera, I constantly reminded myself to engage my core, lift my chest, and keep my back straight to fill out the silhouette of the battle suit and project the character's aura. For lighting, a cooler color palette was selected. Overhead lighting and glass reflections provided excellent ambient light; in post-processing, I slightly deepened background exposure and increased contrast to make the black fabric and patent leather shine pop, allowing the subject to stand out against the detailed background. Photo two is a deliberate detail close-up designed to showcase the boot texture, black stocking nuances, and heel structure, adding diverse visual layers to the full set. Controlling the sword's balance with wrist strength was another subtle yet essential detail to ensure the visuals looked natural.

Overall, this was a fantastic shoot experience. From donning the costume and gripping props to coordinating muscle engagement for each pose, every element required careful control and repeated calibration to achieve the ideal result. Though exhausting, seeing the finished photos made every bit of effort completely worthwhile.
