[Plana cosplay] Bedroom Daily Routine with Sensei

This set of photos was taken last weekend, featuring Plana, a character familiar to everyone in Blue Archive. Having always wanted to try a documentary style close to everyday natural light, I deliberately chose my own bedroom as the setting. Unlike typical studio shoots where atmosphere is crafted through artificial lighting setups, indoor natural light softens the subject and better captures the character's original quiet, slightly robotic demeanor.

For props, I selected a black umbrella prop and a blueprint document. When I first got the umbrella, I intended to use it for standing poses, but after trying it out, sitting on the bed holding the blueprints felt much truer to the lore. The red halo overhead was composited in post-production; although I considered custom-making a physical prop, post-processing ensured a clean, luminous translucency that instantly heightened visual contrast against the long straight white wig.

The outfit consists of a navy Sailor suit cosplay top, where white trim brightens the overall dark color scheme. The large white bow at the neckline required careful arrangement to keep it from tilting and looking messy on camera. The bottom is paired with Black stockings cosplay; since this shoot featured mostly seated poses, finding angles that naturally elongated the leg lines was essential.

For the wig, I selected long straight white hair with blunt bangs. In cosplay, this style can easily appear overly voluminous at the crown, so a black headband was used to press down the top. The white feather-like ornament on the headband was custom-made and required delicate handling during placement to prevent it from slipping off during movement.

Makeup was kept light with warm-toned eyeshadow, mainly emphasizing the translucency of the lower lashes without exaggerated contouring to keep the gaze pure and natural. Throughout the shoot, I aimed for understated emotion, as Plana is a character with a flat, calm vocal tone who occasionally drops surprising remarks. Facing the camera, I tried to empty my mind and avoid forcing expressions. Holding the umbrella in front with a slight tilt of the head, my gaze into the lens carried a subtle scrutinizing touch; holding the blueprints, I relaxed my shoulders to look either lost in thought or absorbed in reviewing documents.

To suit this concept, I chose a cross-legged sitting posture on the bed without stretching out my legs, keeping my silhouette compact. Paired with dark grey bedsheets and the wooden headboard behind, the overall color palette remained comfortably low-saturated. The advantage of shooting in natural light is the wonderfully comfortable visual texture, though side-backlighting or shadows can be tricky to control, so we positioned the bed close to the window to allow light to fall evenly across my face.

In post-processing, we focused on preserving skin texture and fine-tuning the brightness of the red halo so it appeared genuinely floating and glowing overhead. The framing prioritized medium-range half-body and full-body shots rather than wide-angle cuts, keeping edges free of clutter for a clean presentation. Moving around the room in this outfit truly gave me the illusion of living inside the game world. Tidying up props and changing out of the wig and hair accessories afterwards was a bit tedious, but seeing the finished photos made every bit of effort worthwhile.
