For this set of Ushio Noa cosplay, in order to achieve the ideal level of accuracy, I put a lot of effort into preparing the costume and props beforehand. Regarding the white hair cosplay wig, I paid special attention to the layering of the bangs, trimming them thin and wispy to bring out that unique airy feel of anime, while pairing them with the precise positioning of the geometric hair accessory on the side to ensure it wouldn't slip off during large movements. As for the light blue contact lenses, I chose a pair with high transparency to make my gaze look softer under the light, fitting the character's gentle yet rational nature.
The main outfit consists of an oversized white and blue coat. In terms of fabric selection, I deliberately avoided stiff uniform materials and instead used a blended fabric with good drape and breathability, so that the lake-blue ribbons at the cuffs could form an elegant curve when draping naturally. The coat features numerous details, such as the dark contrast lining at the collar, the eye-catching red square pattern on the sleeve, and the sharp geometric tailoring on both sides of the lapel. Together, these design elements construct the character's futuristic and airy feel. The lake-blue tie underneath becomes the bright visual focal point against the dominant white tone.
The lower half consists of a pure white pleated miniskirt with neat folds, paired with matte black tights to form a striking contrast. The visual clash between this black tights outfit and white boots brings out a sharp, stylish aesthetic within this techwear-inspired design. The heels of the white chunky shoes feature the same blue as the coat's ribbons, creating a top-to-bottom color echo that elevates the completeness of the entire look.
As for props, the sci-fi handgun prop I got has a great texture; the surface paint is smooth and even, and the mechanical grooves on the gun body are finely detailed. Although the prop has some weight, holding it at the waist as a support or letting it hang naturally during shooting actually made my poses look more natural and less stiff. Additionally, several round-faced, expressionless plushies were props I specifically prepared for this shoot. They balance out the solemnity and emptiness of a white studio background, adding a touch of casual warmth and cute charm to the scene. Especially in the seated composition, with the plushies scattered around, the overall ambiance feels delightfully relaxed.
The all-white background on the day of the shoot was quite a challenge for lighting setup. Hard light easily leaves strong shadows on the face, while purely soft light makes white clothes blend into the white background. After discussing with the photographer, we used side-backlighting combined with frontal fill light. This created a gentle glow along the edges of my hair while keeping facial shadows clean, naturally highlighting facial contours. During the shoot, I tried several different poses: for instance, turning slightly sideways and resting my chin on my hand while standing showed off both upper-body layering and lower-body leg lines, whereas leaning forward into the camera reinforced an expression of focused concentration.
Stepping in front of the lens and immersing myself in the character's mindset made me adjust my posture instinctively. Placing my weight slightly on the back foot and straightening my spine instantly changed my presence; this subtle physical control recreated the dignified demeanor unique to the character. Although this costume takes time to put on and take off due to its numerous details, the final effect certainly met my expectations. The texture of the tights looked delicate under studio lighting without over-reflection, and the short white boots fit surprisingly well, making walking and posing very comfortable.
Cosplaying a character well requires not just an accurate appearance, but also conveying her innate aura through photos. Although this set lacks complex backgrounds, it allows viewers to focus entirely on the character's design elements and composition—a clean approach suited for anime-style photography that fits this character perfectly.
