[Promeia Cosplay] Melancholy Silhouette of New Eridu in Zenless Zone Zero

When I received the concept shoot idea for "the most melancholy person in New Eridu," I knew I had to express it through this cool-toned cyberpunk aesthetic. Throughout the fitting and shoot, I focused heavily on capturing the character's temperament and inner atmosphere rather than just doing superficial surface work.

A lot of thought went into customizing this Blue wig, featuring heavy bangs and a waist-length drop. I love its sheen—under dark blue lighting, the reflection displays a unique metallic texture that aligns seamlessly with the character's mechanical cold detachment. For eye makeup, I opted for a greyish-purple smoky blend and elongated the eyeliner to evoke a dreamy, languid, yet distant expression. The lip color was chosen as a natural matte rose, which avoids feeling overly aggressive while adding a touch of decadent charm.

The costume is loaded with Techwear outfit and cyberpunk elements. The choker is the soul of this styling: a wide, rigid white collar connected to two black circular mechanical structures, paired with silver metal buckles that define the neck line sharply. The upper body splices black semi-sheer mesh with opaque black-and-white geometric armor plates, which flatters the figure without being overly revealing—perfectly matching this "melancholic person's" poise in a dangerous world. White wrist guards and black straps on the arms, accented with metal rivets along the edges, add a tough crispness to every small detail. The lower body's black shorts, over-the-knee socks, and angular white hip armor plate definitely added weight during shooting, but preserving these layers was essential for maintaining a sharp posture.

The shooting location was chosen perfectly this time. Dim industrial metal pillars, combined with side blue cold light sources, cast highly 3D highlights and shadows directly across my face. The photographer had me lean against a pillar and relax, touching the metal edge lightly—a posture that highlighted the silhouette of my body and gear. When capturing a character with a touch of cold melancholia in Cosplay photography, I slowed my movements and loosened my gaze to capture that sense of solitude existing between prosperity and desolation. When the final photos came out, seeing how my cool white skin tone blended seamlessly with the blue, white, black, and gray palette—materializing "melancholy" into a visual sense of detachment—created an incredibly striking contrast.

Although the preparation process was tedious—swapping out multiple choker components before achieving the ideal effect—the moment I saw light penetrating the wig and sheer fabric in the studio made all the effort worthwhile. Being able to capture the character's story through the lens and allowing flat images to carry rich emotion is precisely what makes Promeia cosplay so captivating to me.
