After putting on this 【Citlali cosplay】 outfit and standing in front of the pre-arranged exotic backdrop, I wrapped up this set of indoor studio photos. From fixing the shape of the wig with its pink-purple gradient and two thick pink twin braids, to the color splicing of the blue and yellow geometric totems on the top's collar, I hoped each detail would visually align closer with the character's overall essence.
For the makeup concept, the key elements were wearing bright blue colored contacts and painting that specific red geometric mark on both sides of my face. I was extremely careful when drawing this mark, adjusting the proportions repeatedly so that it was highly recognizable without looking out of place or smudged. Paired with a pinkish lip glaze, it neutralized the harshness brought by the dark and cool tones of the overall look, adding some soft colors. Because the wig was long and heavy, especially those two thick braids, an extra support structure was built inside the head area. Thankfully, the drape of the braids in the final photos looks very natural and smooth without any collapsing or deformation.
The clothing also has a ton of details. The upper body features a black sleeveless halter top, where the geometric color blocks and large ring buckle at the neckline are very unique. Paired with the light-colored streamers with purple patterns hanging below, the visual focus of the upper body is highly concentrated. The cutout arm bracers are quite solidly made; the diamond cutouts paired with the gold trim bring out a primitive yet mysterious charm. The lower piece is an asymmetric side-slit skirt stitched with deep blue and purple, adorned with red-pink fabric ribbons at the waist, and combined with a purple thigh ring on the left leg, making the overall color layering extremely rich. The shoes are dark brown lace-up sandals, and the gold buckles make the lower body lines more complete and stylized. The woven rope pendant prop I held was also carefully chosen; the small cyan ring complements the overall blue and black primary color palette beautifully, enriching the visual elements in the hand composition.
During the shoot, we focused heavily on the use of ambient lighting. The purple environment light cast all around, paired with the large area of complex ethnic patterns on the backdrop, created a mysterious and dreamlike atmosphere. When setting up the lights, we had to ensure the facial skin tone looked clean and translucent while preserving the three-dimensional texture of the clothing's geometric patterns and folds, so the softbox equipment was adjusted accordingly. We tried different compositions during the shoot; the sitting pose looks more quiet and introverted, while the slightly forward-leaning and extended pose showcases the layering of the costume better, especially the geometric structure of the arm bracers and the accessory details around the waist and legs.
Doing such a detail-rich exotic cosplay requires managing quite a few aspects. It's not just about simply putting on props; you also have to think about how to present everything naturally through composition, light, shadow, and personal expression. As part of the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program, this shoot served as a practical test of my makeup details and outfit coordination. Although adjusting the long braids, streamers, and prop angles constantly during the shoot was physically demanding, I am highly satisfied with the final photos' texture, color atmosphere, and exotic feel.
Every time I put on such an elaborate outfit and stand before the camera, watching the set and lights gradually come together perfectly fills me with a deep sense of fulfillment. Being able to bring a uniquely charming character from the anime world into reality through Genshin Impact cosplay is incredibly rewarding. This indoor studio shoot was a very special experience. If there is a suitable outdoor location next time, I hope to combine the experience gained here to try different shooting textures in a wider environment.
