For this anime convention shoot, we centered our theme around a duo waltz, selecting Furina from Genshin Impact—specifically the two forms commonly known as White Furina and Archon Furina. To accurately replicate the costume design details, the entire attire blended Lolita lace elements with elegant sheer fabric. My ensemble featured a floor-length gradient blue dress, accented at the waist with delicate silver chains and pearl ornaments, while my partner wore a puffier short skirt design with multi-layered white ruffles edged in blue, topped with an ornate crown and crescent hairpiece.

The shoot took place inside a convention hall featuring high metal ceilings and cool indoor light filtering through large floor-to-ceiling windows. This lighting proved ideal for bringing out character translucency, making blue skirts look exceptionally soft under cool lights like an extension of the Hydro element. Choreographing movements beforehand took considerable thought; a waltz demands not only hand coordination but also mutual eye contact and steady footwork synchronization. Because the floor-length skirts could easily cause tripping if steps faltered, we rehearsed several rounds to find the smoothest rhythm.

Regarding wigs, we both wore long white hair with blue streaks that flowed smoothly. During spins or turns, long strands easily airborne; while mid-air movement looked stunning, messy stray hairs upon landing required diligent touch-ups. After each sequence, I quickly pulled out a comb and styling spray to make adjustments. Fortunately, soft ambient lighting prevented the spray from casting reflective white glare, which was a huge bonus.

The photographer's lens continuously followed our motion, aiming to avoid static hand-holding poses in favor of authentic dynamic dance movement. One stride-and-turn posture proved particularly challenging—holding hands high at staggered levels while exchanging gazes demanded solid core strength to maintain balance, as leaning forward or backward would distort skirt shapes. Fortunately, as experienced convention cosplayers, controlling facial expressions and body tension came naturally, yielding final renders that exceeded expectations under slow-shutter capture and high-quality output.

For makeup design, we avoided overly dramatic eye makeup, choosing lighter, understated palettes that conveyed divine elegance. Cool-toned pink lipstick paired with blue contact lenses complemented the overall blue-and-white costume aesthetic. Before the lens, we consciously kept eyes locked on each other to maintain crucial interaction. Many duo cosplays end up looking like strangers sharing a table simply because eye contact is missing; true intimacy and chemistry emerge only when genuinely viewing your partner as a dance companion.

We captured roughly a dozen pose sequences, starting with gentle hand-holding before progressing into leg lifts and slight jumping weight shifts. This added variety to compositions while highlighting agility beyond elaborate gowns. Skirts billowing in motion created beautiful flowing curves, with silk textures and fabric folds looking even richer on camera. The entire process felt relaxed and enjoyable—aside from constantly avoiding stepping on skirts, immersing ourselves in these Genshin Impact characters under cool-toned lighting beautifully highlighted costume textures. Keeping post-processing color saturation minimal preserved authentic convention hall lighting.
