[Mualani cosplay] Natlan Tour Guide Takes You to Feel Outdoor Sunshine and Vitality

As a guide of Natlan and Mualani of the People of the Springs, this outdoor cosplay shoot was successfully completed. Standing on the abandoned railway tracks and green grass at the edge of the city felt like stepping directly into the Natlan region of Teyvat. As a gentle breeze blew by, the maracas in hand seemed to chime in with the rhythm of the scene, infusing the entire shoot with a true sense of adventure.

A lot of heart was poured into preparing this costume. The short white hair paired with blue double braids and the light blue beast-ear hairpiece on top look playful and cute. The facial makeup was meticulously designed by wig and makeup artist Fan Yu; the red-orange tones of the eyeshadow blend seamlessly with the white dot face paint below, appearing lively and true to the character design. The blue-and-white cropped top on the upper body is neatly tailored, while the white abstract totem body paint on the arms looks rich in texture under natural light, enhancing athleticism alongside the colorful striped wristbands. The blue-green-yellow patterned maracas in hand are the crowning touch, with their grid-like texture carrying a tropical charm.

The blue-green-yellow geometric panel miniskirt on the lower half has a unique design. The fabric ribbons at the waist sway naturally with movement, studded with metallic accents that highlight Natlan's distinct design aesthetics. The white thigh straps not only flatter the leg lines but also elevate the overall layering. The dark water-ripple boot covers wrapped around the calves, paired with blue open-toe sandals, maximize the character's summer vibrancy. The bright and joyful palette of the entire ensemble perfectly matches the lively and vibrant tone of Natlan.

Choosing to shoot outdoors at the old railway park was intended to leverage the visual extension of the tracks and natural grass elements, recreating the sense of the character roaming through wilderness in the game. Photographer Qian Dazhi was extremely professional; to capture the best split second, I had to repeatedly practice jumping and stretching poses on the railway tracks. The swing of the maracas in both hands needed to harmonize with my expressions and gestures—showing the character's warm hospitality without making movements appear stiff. After many attempts, we finally captured satisfying postures; whether half-body close-ups or energetic full-body jumps, the final images radiate dynamism.

For me, doing cosplay is not just bringing a beloved character into reality, but a cross-field collaborative art form. From the tailor's skilled crafting of the outfit, to the wig and makeup artist's meticulous refining, to the photographer's sharp eye for capturing light and shadow, every step reflects seamless teamwork among friends on set. Though outdoor natural light is ever-changing, it also offers a unique atmosphere that softens color transitions in photos. Going on an outdoor shoot in such bright sunny weather consumes physical energy, but the fulfillment brought by each shutter click is something indoor studio shoots simply cannot match.

Every cosplay work treated with sincere dedication becomes a special memory. Experiencing real-world sunshine and breeze through Mualani's eyes and recording these vibrant moments through the lens is deeply meaningful in itself. I believe the passion from Natlan can be felt by everyone through these convention photos.
