From when I first got this outfit to the final look, it took nearly a month back and forth to fine-tune the details. The metallic texture of the headpiece, the geometric patchwork patterns on the clothing, and those asymmetrical armbands and thigh rings—every single small part had to be repeatedly compared with the original official art concept. To recreate that fantasy photography yet slightly exotic cosplay texture, I specially chose a dark base cloth paired with high-saturation colored printed cushions, and added that mosaic glass lamp. The lighting on set turned out incredibly atmospheric.
It was actually quite hot in the studio on the day of the shoot, especially wearing this gradient wig combined with the weight of the headpiece. I started sweating after just a few sets. But seeing that mysterious and lazy state in the final photos made me feel all the hard work was worth it. The action of resting my chin on one hand in the first photo was actually an impromptu moment; I originally just wanted to change positions on the cushion to catch my breath, but the photographer captured it, making it look much more natural than a staged pose.
Regarding the hair, makeup, and eyeshadow, I intentionally intensified the red tones under the eyes and at the outer corners. Paired with light blue colored contacts, I hoped to express the character's innate sense of aloofness yet alluring temperament. The hair color, interwoven with purple and pink, is incredibly photogenic, revealing different dimensions under both direct light and backlighting. The golden triangular decorations on the dress reflect delicate specks of light in the dim environment, which looks visually rich alongside the pearls and silver pot in the background.
This kind of fantasy photography outfit with a rich ethnic flavor really puts the garment's pattern and tailoring to the test. Since it features a sleeveless and waist-baring design, I did a lot of research on innerwear and adhesive tapes to ensure a great fit and prevent any shifting during movement. The straps on my thigh were also adjusted for tightness, guaranteeing a snug fit without leaving marks. When the final photos came out, I felt the vibe of a "mysterious night walker" was completely spot on.
Honestly, every time I cosplay a character with so many details and heavy colors, my biggest worry is that the photos will look messy. However, this time the photographer was excellent at utilizing space; the stacking of cushions, the staggered placement of the wooden barrel and birdcage, combined with purple and red ambient lights, framed the subject perfectly in the visual center. The propped-up sitting pose in photo two might look a bit cold and aloof, but I was actually just searching for the lens angle at the time. The guided result ended up carrying much more of a narrative feel.
I usually love these types of fantasy photography and exotic cosplay designs when playing Genshin Impact, so being able to recreate it in reality is a truly wonderful experience. From the hairstyle to the accessories, and then to the construction of the entire scene, every step was a tribute to this character. Personally, I absolutely love the color tone of this set. The rich purple-red tones allow all the elements in the frame to blend comfortably without any awkward, forced patchwork feel.
I hope everyone looking at these photos can also feel this immersive atmosphere. The charm of cosplay lies exactly in bringing the 2D world into the 3D reality. Even inside a small studio portrait space, as long as it's arranged with heart, you can still take photos that make you feel as if you are in a foreign night market or a mysterious palace. This shooting process was delightful and gave me a deeper understanding of the character.
