A tremendous amount of thought and effort went into the preparation and execution of this shoot for Yelan cosplay's new outfit. From the day I received this costume, I was captivated by its sleek, agile aesthetic framed in interwoven blue and black with golden trim outlines. The halter-neck design tests neck and shoulder lines, while the unique chest cut-out—alongside that ice-blue teardrop gemstone and tassel—forms an exceptionally striking visual center. The voluminous, fluffy white faux-fur shawl across the shoulders and back not only honors the character's canonical design, but also adds a tangible sense of warmth to the frame's layered depth.
For the wig, I selected a luminous royal blue, cut into a crisp bob with blunt bangs; that small tuft of hair slightly curving upward at the crown looks natural rather than stiff in this Blue hair cosplay. In makeup, to fit the character's essence, I subtly adjusted the upward angle of the eye makeup and wore translucent green contact lenses, making the gaze sharper and instantly focusing emotions before the lens.
The prop bow must also be highlighted—its intricate design echoes the white, blue, and gold palette of the costume. While its skeletal frame is lightweight, the multi-tiered elements give it substantial presence in hand. To capture that luminous lighting ambiance in the first photo, we devoted considerable time to lighting and post-production.
The shooting location was a distinctive classical Chinese interior featuring traditional dark carved wooden lattices, large blue-and-white porcelain vases gleaming with soft luster under the lights, tall blooming faux pink flower branches, and red brocade spread across tables. This rich traditional aesthetic perfectly heightened the character's commanding aura in Genshin Impact.
Seeing the final photos, the entire effort felt deeply fulfilling and rewarding. These poses were developed after studying the character's in-game idle and combat stances. The subtle shift in center of gravity while holding the bow, the delicate angle of drawing the string, and the open posture of the shoulders and back all conceal countless nuances. Although this new outfit has numerous accessories—including golden studded leather wristbands, asymmetrical black-and-white bracers, and Stockings cosplay details that take time to put on and adjust—seeing these final results makes every meticulous step entirely worthwhile.
Ultimately, returning to my initial mindset: I was eager to cosplay this new Night Diva outfit because each new attempt feels like exploring another dimension of the character. While the classic outfit carries fond memories, my focus is now on this sharp, intuitive blue-haired archer. The shoot day was bustling—from changing costumes and staging the set to posing, the entire workflow was tight yet orderly. The seamless teamwork among planning, photography, lighting, and logistics allowed me to showcase the character's allure before the lens with confidence.
This wardrobe and prop combination offered wonderful creative room; whether capturing fine details under bright illumination or sculpting a mysterious aura in low light, it deepened my understanding of the persona. I hope to share these captured moments with everyone who loves this character, conveying that sleek elegance and distinctive charm of Yelan.
