Today I'm sharing my Swimsuit cosplay shoot of Sunna from Zenless Zone Zero. To faithfully recreate this look, I put considerable effort into pre-shoot preparations. For the wig, I selected a mint green shade, trimming blunt bangs and applying light structural spray to keep it naturally voluminous and soft. The makeup emphasized a clear, dewy base complemented by subtle, pale eyeshadow to project a fresh summer vibe.
The centerpiece of the outfit is the navy blue one-piece swimsuit. To honor the character, I affixed a handwritten Japanese fabric patch to the chest; even in mirror selfies, getting these nuanced details right is essential. My arms featured red-and-white striped arm guards, a bold chromatic clash that keeps the visual frame from feeling flat. The lower half was styled with over-the-knee White stockings, elevated by a red ribbon Leg garter tied around my left thigh to enrich dimensional design. This combination not only flatters leg lines, but also creates striking visual tension on camera. For footwear, I went with simple white flat slide sandals, prioritizing comfort while moving around during set breaks.
This shoot took place in a photo studio. The background was a solid silver-grey curtain backdrop, with black softboxes accented with orange trim and light stands set up on the left. We utilized professional studio lighting to ensure even illumination across the body, accentuating skin texture and garment fabrics cleanly. To build the summer mood, I prepped a large inflatable watermelon-slice swim ring whose red-and-green palette immediately grabs the eye. Beside me on a wooden chair sat a white mannequin head, with volleyball props scattered across the floor—authentic behind-the-scenes studio moments captured organically in the mirror.
For this series, I chose a mirror-selfie perspective. This angle provides an immediate, full-body presentation of the outfit coordination. With the phone subtly obscuring the face, the viewer's focus shifts directly onto styling details, bodily curves, and the ambient mood. Holding the watermelon swim ring in my right hand while leaning slightly sideways accentuated my waistline, allowing my leg lines to stretch out gracefully under the shaping of the White stockings and Leg garter.
Throughout the shoot, the light angles required ongoing adjustments to ensure crisp rim lighting against the silver-grey backdrop, preventing the dark navy swimsuit from melting into shadows. We also monitored highlight roll-off across the arm guards and stockings to prevent blown-out whites. Despite the casual nature of mirror selfies, compositional framing and subject placement had to be calculated meticulously so the figure wasn't shoved to frame edges, locking the focal core firmly on the character's ensemble.
The entire shoot went wonderfully smooth. This Sunna swimsuit ensemble thrives on bold color contrast: mint green, deep navy, red-and-white stripes, and crisp White stockings harmonize to deliver a look that feels playful yet subtly alluring under a summer theme. From wardrobe coordination to prop curation, every element was carefully weighed to celebrate the source design while conveying my own aesthetic interpretation as a cosplayer.
