For this military uniform of Ren Yamashiro, I closely oversaw three rounds of revisions with the tailor. The outfit appears deceptively straightforward, but demands extreme precision in tailoring and body proportions. The navy fabric with crimson piping requires crisp shoulder pads, perfectly draped gold tassel epaulets, and an exact waist-cinching belt placement—a slight deviation would completely ruin the silhouette's proportions. To capture that intimidating presence and commanding mature aura, I spent extensive time fine-tuning the fit during fittings, ensuring peak visual form from every angle.
Considerable effort went into the wig as well. Long straight purple hair seems low-maintenance on the surface, but styling it cleanly takes tremendous time. The blunt bangs needed airiness rather than dense weight, the sideburn tendrils had to lie flat against the cheeks, and the curve at the back of the head needed proper volume support. The red hair ornament and long tassel at the crown are the heart of the design; the slightest tilt looks jarring, so I checked them repeatedly in the mirror before every take. For makeup, the focus was purple contact lenses, using reddish eyeshadow to deepen the eye sockets alongside winged eyeliner, finished with a matte rosewood lip to convey icy elegance without excessive harshness.
The shooting location aligned seamlessly with the character's world: a vintage dark-red velvet sofa backed by carved wooden bookshelves and damask drapery. My favorite props were the long iron chain and metal rod. Holding the chain demanded relaxed wrists so the links fell naturally, projecting an air of total behind-the-scenes dominion. When pointing the metal rod or resting it over my shoulder, I dropped my shoulders and raised my chin slightly, channeling a piercing stare to manifest that haughty, condescending superiority.
As for styling, the black tights outfit paired with combat boots was unequivocally the crowning touch. Many ask how to make black tights look effortlessly cool and edgy; the key lies in footwear selection. I chose platform lace-up combat boots whose rugged soles ground the softness of the tights, pulling the visual center of gravity downward. In seated poses, I deliberately crossed one leg high or rested a boot on a crate, extending the leg lines while displaying the tights' texture beneath the hemline to heighten visual tension. The photographer mastered light and shadow brilliantly—warm, low-key lighting caressing the gold tassels and red velvet brought rich, luxurious depth.
The entire shoot was physically demanding, especially sustaining an aloof, disdainful expression without breaking into laughter. Yet seeing the raw previews instantly proved that every preparation was worthwhile. The styling and camera crew were consummate professionals, collaborating continuously on posing and lighting to match my vision.
