Putting on this Ye Shunguang gear, the strongest feeling is that sense of sharp capability belonging to Yunkui Summit. Unlike the delicate characters I usually cosplay, this outfit radiates a unique heroics and vitality from inside out.
Looking closely at the outfit details, there's plenty worth refining. The wig is a warm-toned brown, and with the layers in the bangs and sides, the face-framing effect is fantastic. The white headband on top, the striking red geometric horns on both sides, and the red-and-white flower knot on the side—all accessories are delicate and easy to secure without shifting during shooting, yielding impressive accuracy.
Moving on to makeup: to capture the character's spirit, I emphasized contour and alertness in the eye makeup. The reddish-brown contacts with an enlarging effect give a sharp, penetrating gaze, which, paired with naturally extended eyeliner and low-saturation lip color, feels crisp yet retains feminine softness. The overall makeup is clean and luminous without unnecessary heaviness, perfectly matching Ye Shunguang's heroic and capable temperament.
The garment's fabric and craftsmanship were another pleasant surprise. The modified Chinese style outfit top features a white, yellow, and black color-blocking design, where the yellow mandarin collar and frog buttons express traditional Chinese elements just right. On the black chest fabric, white leaf patterns and intricate accents add rich depth. The sleeveless cut showcases arm lines, while the half-finger white glove on the left hand paired with silver metal ring bracelets serves as the ultimate highlight, giving the entire look an added layer of battle-ready capability.
You might only see the final photos, but preparation for this set took considerable effort behind the scenes. For instance, to adjust the wig's fluffiness so it wouldn't look stiff, I combed it repeatedly in front of the mirror to ensure natural curves along the bangs and sideburns. Wearing contacts also required prior adaptation to avoid dry eyes while projecting proper presence on camera; overall, I'm quite happy with today's state.
The backdrop for this shoot was simply my gear storage room. The clothes hangers scattered around, mannequin models in the background, and costumes kept in plastic bags show the genuine reality of our casual cosplay life. Shaping a beloved character in a space overflowing with passion and stacked fabrics is a magical process in itself. Without needing a vast studio, a touch of everyday atmosphere actually makes the character feel more real.
When posing, I specifically drew inspiration from the character's personality. To act as the "senior sister" of Yunkui Summit, stage fright wasn't an option; poses needed to be natural and confident. Actions like a single-eye wink, lightly pinching a strand of hair, or slightly tilting the chin up effectively convey that self-assured, effortless composure. The cover photo expression is more restrained, gently resting my chin on my hand while keeping a focused gaze, hoping to convey the character's core spirit.
Changing camera angles and switching up expressions are ways I breathe life into the character. This photoset didn't deliberately pursue grand scenes or heavy lighting, but rather documented the relaxed ease of the character in everyday moments. Sometimes, a slightly cluttered background better highlights the persona's core features, revealing a natural, comfortable chill.
Overall, cosplaying Ye Shunguang was not only an emotional projection into the world of Zenless Zone Zero, but also gave me new insights into styling and presence. The black and white contrast complemented by yellow accents and iconic red accessories creates high color recognition. Embodying a character active at Yunkui Summit demands strong presence as well as meticulous detail control. Though I'm only sharing these few images today, the preparation time and effort behind them were substantial. From wig to accessories, from makeup to expressions, I strived to stay true to everyone's impression.
