[Cirno cosplay] Touhou Project: Ice Fairy's Garden Photo Set

For this Touhou Project Cirno cosplay shoot, the main focus was capturing the character's confident and slightly sassy expression. For hair and makeup, a vibrant blue wig was styled into an airy bob cut, paired with color-matching contact lenses and snowflake-textured eye makeup to emphasize her frosty essence. The outfit is an ice-blue Lolita dress with intricate layers of tulle and lace trim, highlighted by a red-and-white bow on the bodice and narrow red-and-blue ribbons draping down the sides, introducing warm accents into the predominantly cool palette. The holographic crystal wings on the back served as the visual highlight of this look, casting colorful iridescent refractions under varying light angles and adding a dreamy touch to the otherwise cool aesthetic. The venue was Hugo Studio, which features a complete Japanese garden; the wooden verandas, rattan lanterns, white pebble pathways, and lush greenery provided great depth for composition. To complement the tranquil setting, photographer sugar and I devised a series of relaxed poses. These included crouching over the white gravel looking upward to let natural light illuminate the face, leaning against the wooden window frame to create localized perspective depth, and sitting on the wooden veranda while stretching out the legs naturally, balancing the volume of the skirt with white socks and chunky black platform shoes. Throughout the shoot, special attention was paid to the gaze; since Cirno is inherently childish in lore, I strove to keep a playful, spirited look in my eyes, allowing the photographer to capture many candid emotional moments. To add everyday warmth and fun, I also brought green grapes as a prop—sitting on the wooden floor eating grapes yielded very natural, candid smiles. The color palette of this set has a lovely contrast, pairing cool clothing against warm wood tones and lush greenery to create an inviting atmosphere. Post-processing focused on preserving the textures of the foliage and stones while enhancing the refractive sheen of the crystal wings. Overall, it was a delightful shooting experience—the quiet serenity of the Japanese garden set against the character's energetic spirit formed a wonderful contrast, showcasing a relatable, grounded side of the character beyond the ice and snow.
