The lights and crowds at the convention venue are always bustling, but the moment I put on this layered lace mob cap and changed into the purple-and-pink gradient ruffled long dress, I instantly switched to Patchouli's channel. A lot of thought went into the details of this Touhou cosplay outfit today, from the floral decorations on the hat to the transparent tulle at the cuffs, striving to restore the daily routine of that reclusive magician. Especially those iconic half-frame glasses; once worn, even my gaze feels softened.
Many people asked why I held a book over my head at the convention. Actually, it was just a little interaction during the shootāpretending to use a thick hardcover book to gently wake up a certain book thief's head. No Marisa was harmed on-site, but the atmosphere indeed fits the "bedtime reading" setting perfectly. In the noisy exhibition hall, through this Purple Lolita outfit and the props in my hand, I tried to create a sense of tranquility belonging to Gensokyo. The photographer's lighting was amazing; the backlight captured the sheer layers of the skirt hem beautifully, keeping the overall tone in that dreamy violet color palette for these Convention photos.
Walking around the venue in a dress with such a large skirt hem actually requires careful control of one's center of gravity, but to fully restore the character, this clunkiness instead becomes part of the experience. During the shoot, I had to constantly adjust the position of the skirt hem to avoid stepping on the long lace edges, while also maintaining a lazy and composed demeanor. This is probably the most challenging yet interesting part of cosplay. I hope everyone can feel Patchouli's unique temperament through these few photosāeven in the midst of clamor, she can still immerse herself in the pages of her book completely undisturbed.
