[Saileach Cosplay] Arknights 'Appreciate Fragrance': Freezing Morning Light and Shadow in a European-Style Estate

Saileach 'Appreciate Fragrance' cosplay—this photo set was shot at an outdoor location during last year's October Golden Week holiday. At the time, we mainly selected scenes with European-style corridors and white stone pillars. The sunlight was very abundant, shining on white fabrics and golden wigs, creating a halo effect much more natural than indoor studio shoots. The color palette for this EPOQUE Series - "Appreciate Fragrance" Saileach skin is primarily a combination of white, light purple, and navy blue, with accessory patterns reminiscent of flower wreaths that required a fresh background to complement them. The dress I chose at the time exposed the shoulders, and paired with a white choker and gloves, her overall lines presented wonderfully under outdoor light in this European-style outdoor location.

Regarding props and coordination, this pale purple long flag served as the visual center of the entire photoshoot. It possessed both the firmness of a long pole and the flowing elegance of fabric, borrowing the wind at the venue to flutter in different directions. Especially under a combination of backlighting and side-front lighting, the fringe edges of the flag reflected beautiful highlights. Holding up the weight of this long pole tested arm stability a bit, but this posture requiring effort was precisely what allowed the character's poise to look more upright.

For hair and makeup, thanks to Teacher Mao for the fine trimming and styling of the wig. Large areas of long blonde hair can easily look fake in natural light if not handled properly, but the hair texture and layers turned out excellent this time. Coupled with a great fit for the Elf ears cosplay, virtually no rigid post-editing edits were needed later. Makeup emphasized the three-dimensional depth of the eyes and facial features; blue contact lenses paired with warm-toned base makeup made me look spirited without feeling overly flashy.

Since this was among my first sets of photos shot during my beginner phase, my poses and emotional expressions were certainly somewhat green compared to experienced cosplayers. There weren't many dramatic or high-difficulty movements; most utilized basic postures like looking back, standing sideways, and slightly tilting the head back to present the character. I hoped to interpret Saileach in a relatively calm, detached, yet completely unexaggerated state—no wailing, no falling apart, leaning more toward an effortless, natural flow. Photographer A Ci paid great attention to composition during the shoot; many low-angle perspectives fully utilized the height of the architecture, displaying both spatial depth and elongating body proportions.

In Arknights, Saileach might not be among the top popular characters among six-star operators, and this EPOQUE Series - "Appreciate Fragrance" Saileach skin is also relatively understated. Choosing to cosplay this character was mainly because its outfit design possesses a rich fantasy style that fits such an outdoor setting perfectly. Stacks of white fabric form complex folds, spreading out like clouds when walking or under strong wind. Purple sashes and dark fasteners at the skirt hem offer just the right accents, preventing the overall look from feeling monotonous.

For post-processing, I didn't perform heavy background replacements, mainly correcting grayscale levels in light and shadow to make colors clearer and more translucent. I didn't intentionally smooth out skin textures, preserving authentic skin feel—after all, under natural outdoor light, subtle shadows make a person look more three-dimensional. This set of photos represents a very important step forward for me personally. Although still somewhat unrefined technically, I personally love the recorded light, shadow, and atmosphere. Being able to complete a Saileach cosplay of a beloved character in such a beautiful scene is a deeply fulfilling achievement in itself. The whole process went very smoothly, and thanks to the team friends traveling along for giving me great help. In the future, I will keep learning how to better recreate characters so that every photoshoot shows progress over the last.
