[Kasugano Sora cosplay] Twintails and Black Tights in Yosuga no Sora, the Everyday Life of a Gothic Dress

This set of photos took quite a while to prepare, with the clothes and accessories adjusted repeatedly. For the upper body, I chose a loose white shirt because Sora's own temperament carries a lazy yet exquisite feel; it shouldn't be too tight-fitting, otherwise, it would ruin that "casual at home yet still cute" atmosphere. I intentionally added some subtle ruffles to the neckline and cuffs to create a sense of layering with the plaid pleated skirt below. The black ruffled trim at the edge of the hemline is the finishing touch, making the overall look less monotonous while echoing the dark details of Gothic dress elements.

Speaking of the overall style, what took the most thought was actually the combination of socks and shoes in this Black tights outfit. For the black tights, I chose a high-density, opaque texture so that the light refraction during the mirror selfie would make the leg lines look smoother, creating a stark black-and-white contrast with the white top for a sharper visual effect. The black Mary Janes on my feet were specifically chosen; the small bow on the toe perfectly echoes the bows on my hair accessories, a minor detail that really adds bonus points in cosplay. I also adjusted the way the Twintails were tied several times—the height couldn't be too high or too low. Too high would look too lively, while too low would be too gloomy. In the end, I chose a position level with the ears but slightly toward the back, topped with black ribbon bows, which provides a youthful girlish feel with a hint of melancholy.

The shooting environment was chosen indoors against a clean white embossed door that wouldn't steal the spotlight from the main subject. For props, I prepared a large black plush rabbit and a mini figurine; they are actually from my personal collection, and placing them on the suitcase served as the perfect accompaniment. The suitcase itself is a vintage brown hard-shell model with a great sense of history. I used it as a seat so that the captured posture would look more natural. Crossing my legs elongates the leg visuals while letting the skirt hem spread out naturally to reveal the length of the black tights—this is exactly that "half-hidden, half-revealed" composition style loved by many fellow fans.

Of course, as a cosplayer, besides looking the part, the expression and aura are also very important. Even though the phone blocks my face, the overall posture you see in the mirror is exactly what I wanted to convey—that nonchalant, slightly aloof yet willing-to-share-daily-life state. I didn't deliberately pose with exaggerated movements; I just sat quite normally, holding the phone with one hand and resting my other arm on my knee, which is both relaxing and showcases the best state of the clothing.

In post-processing, I basically didn't do too much touching up, just slightly adjusting the warm and cool tones to make the white door look cleaner and the blacks purer. I feel the texture under natural light is the best, especially the realistic reflections on the black tights and patent leather shoes. Many people ask if this style is easy to carry off; actually, the key lies in the harmony between individual items. A white shirt, a plaid skirt, black tights, and bows—these elements combined make up the classic "Sora daily look." As long as the color coordination isn't messy, you basically can't go wrong. I intentionally chose various large and small rabbit elements to add flavor this time, precisely because of Sora's tendency to rely on plushies in the original work; I wanted to use props to reinforce this character's impression point.

This entire photo set consists of just this one mirror selfie. My favorite part is the fit between the skirt folds and the black tights, combined with the texture of the suitcase, which gives the overall frame a strong sense of storytelling. When shooting this style, the biggest fear is being overly deliberate; the more you want to showcase the clothes, the more relaxed you need to be, as if you just casually took a mirror photo at home, which actually yields a more natural result.
