[Naiad cosplay] Identity V Summer Jin Beach Photoshoot Log

This shoot was planned around Identity V's Naiad in her Summer Jin skin, and I chose an open outdoor beach as the location. To capture that authentic summer vitality, studio lighting simply wouldn't suffice; real sea breezes and natural sunlight were essential. Pre-production for this set took extensive preparation.

In terms of wardrobe, to suit the summer skin theme, I wore a bright yellow bikini as the base layer, covered with an open-knit white fringe crochet beach cover-up. The lower half paired with a color-matched floral mini skirt, keeping the palette within a radiant yellow-orange spectrum. A breezy sheer yellow sash was draped along my hip; in the gusty seaside winds, this fabric introduced dynamic motion, preventing the frames from feeling static.

The wig was trimmed into soft wavy blonde curls, styled into low twin pigtails with braided accents at the tips. The floral headpiece combined sunflowers and white frangipani blossoms, pinned behind the head with a floral-print ribbon bow. Around my neck was a white beaded necklace, complemented by an orange floral bracelet at the wrist. Because the character's overall palette is highly saturated, accessories required a minimalist touch to avoid visual clutter.

Makeup focused predominantly on the eyes. Wearing blue contact lenses, I chose vibrant orange-red and classic red hues for eyeshadow and lips. The base makeup was kept fresh and translucent, ensuring a radiant, healthy glow even under overcast skies. For my toes, I did a bright yellow pedicure, as the many barefoot beach frames demanded attention down to the finest detail.

The shoot took place on a cloudy day with wonderfully diffused light. This is actually a major advantage for outdoor location shoots—acting like a gigantic natural softbox, eliminating the need to avoid harsh overhead midday sun. We picked Meishan Bay Beach Park, where blue swing sets and carousels provided fantastic backdrops.

While shooting on the swing, I extended my legs naturally while gripping the chains with both hands. This pose beautifully accentuated body curves while pairing with a direct gaze into the lens to evoke playful charm. Sitting on the tidal rocks by the water, I stepped barefoot directly into the surf, letting sand cling freely to my feet; this heightened the authenticity of the shot, delivering a relaxed, effortless mood.

Managing wind is always the toughest trial in seaside photography. While sea breezes lift the sash gracefully, they also whip hair across the face. Shooting required constant hair adjustments, and capturing the perfect flutter of the fabric took repeated shutter bursts. I also utilized white beach photo frames and palm tree trunks as foreground framing elements.

Naiad often appears cold and distant in the game, but her Summer Jin skin has a completely different aura—radiant, sun-kissed, and spirited. In my posing choreography, I stayed relaxed, favoring gentle over-the-shoulder glances, looking downward, or interacting naturally with props. Ambiance often matters far more than mechanically copying poses; when the setting is right, the emotion communicates itself.

Bringing this set from concept to completion took nearly half a month of ongoing adjustments in styling and scouting. Compared to posing in an indoor studio, on-location shooting lends the character much richer dimensional life. Looking at the finished cuts, enduring the chaotic sea breeze was completely worthwhile—the final atmosphere matched everything I envisioned for this skin.
