[Airi Momoi Cosplay] Valentine's Day Love Song in Project Sekai

The theme of this Valentine's Day Special shoot is a Love Song. I chose a multi-layered red and white dress paired with dark plaid, attempting to reproduce Airi Momoi's playful and highly stage-ready look from Project Sekai.

Let's talk about the costume details first. The most eye-catching part of the entire outfit is the row of exquisite red lace-ups on the chest, paired with a red and white bow headband, creating a highly vivid visual highlight. The skirt hem features multi-layered ruffled splicing, with white tulle and red fabric interwoven, plus a deep crimson-purple plaid print, delivering extremely rich depth. The cuffs are ribbon-decorated puff sleeves, which, together with the white gloves, carry Airi's unique genki idol traits in every gesture.

Managing the wig also took quite a bit of effort. The long pink curly hair needed to be styled into soft, fluffy curves with natural layering at the hair ends to present that gorgeous yet not overly exaggerated effect from the original work.

The indoor set layout this time selected a room with French windows and European antique furniture. I am most satisfied with the small dessert table on the left and the deep red velvet curtains in the background, whose tones happen to echo the red on the dress. The inclusion of floral installations and a birdcage infused the entire frame with a great sense of Valentine's Day ritual.

During the shoot, I experimented with several different poses. For the first photo, I chose a sitting posture, spreading out the skirt hem with my hands naturally clasped, showcasing a gentle and serene side. The finger-heart pose in the second photo was mainly intended to convey a playful sense of interaction, perfectly matching the atmosphere of a Valentine's Day "Love Song." The final photo is a seamless standing pose with one hand resting behind my head, confidently displaying the complete silhouette of the entire outfit. This Lolita outfit features a cinched waist, which, together with the white tights and black Mary Jane shoes, beautifully stretches the proportions visually.

In fact, every time I undertake a cosplay photography session with such rich elements, the biggest test of patience is the preparation phase. This costume has numerous snap buttons and straps; it took over half an hour just to put it on and smooth out every single fold. The wig also had to be styled with hairspray to secure the bows, ensuring it wouldn't shift out of place during frequent posing.

The choice of lighting during the shooting process was also crucial. To highlight this sweet texture, the photographer intentionally utilized high-key soft light to make the skin look fair and translucent, while making the pink hair appear even clearer. Although this kind of lighting easily causes the frame to lose some dark details, it is exceptionally suitable for expressing such a dreamlike theme.

I really enjoy the feeling of being completely immersed in the character. Once I put on Airi's clothes, I need to have that bright, confident, and stage-fright-free expressiveness, releasing the character's vitality in front of the lens. Every outfit and every set design is aimed at capturing the most vivid moment.

This shoot lasted from morning until afternoon. Although managing the clothes, makeup, and hair was exhausting, the moment I saw the final photos, all the hard work felt entirely worth it. Cosplay brings me joy not just by mimicking a character's appearance, but by using imagination within limited time and space to build a small world belonging to the character. I hope this set of photos with a Valentine's Day vibe can make people feel that sweet vitality.
