When doing Anime-style photography and post-processing for cosplay showcases, I am often asked how to make the high-key Japanese fresh style look natural and transparent. Today, I'll combine some of the photos I recently processed to talk about the specific operational approach.

For this style of shooting, the lighting in the early stage is particularly crucial. If you want a transparent brightness, the lighting ratio between the subject and the background must be well-managed. My commonly used method is to use a large area of soft light plus diffuse reflection, so the whole character looks soft and the skin texture can hold up. In fact, male cosplayers' natural conditions for this style of cosplay are not bad at all, and there is absolutely no need to have appearance anxiety. As long as the contour of the makeup is clean, combined with the color layout of a high-key style, the shot will look very refreshing and won't appear stiff.

Speaking of post-processing, my habit is to set the color balance and white balance before liquefying, and then adjust the interference of ambient color on the skin according to the character's setting. What many male cosplayers usually struggle with the most is how to make their facial contours look soft. In fact, during photo editing, you can retain skin details through high-frequency skin retouching, and then use gradient maps to slightly brighten the corners of the eyes and the center of the face, which can solve this problem nicely.

I am currently based in Beijing taking photography and post-processing orders, and my pricing has always been quite affordable. I value the completion rate of each collaboration and everyone's approval when they get the final photos more. The experience shared here is accumulated from my own practical experience. Having been a photo retoucher for so long, I have always pursued enhancing the quality of the final photos in a way that fits the coser's own characteristics. Every time I see these meticulously retouched works, I can feel that this community is full of creativity and dedication. I also hope to continue using my lens and color grading in the future to help everyone record their satisfying character moments.
