[Sunna cosplay] The Pink-and-Black Maiden of Zenless Zone Zero

Shooting this Sunna cosplay took quite a while working together with the photographer in a room styled with a pink gaming style. Recreating the character's exact vibe required extensive prep beforehand. First came the makeup and wig styling: the silver-white wig needed patient grooming, adjusting the curves of the bangs and sidelocks several times to outline that cold yet tsundere expression. For eye makeup, I applied reddish-pink eyeshadow accented with fine glitter, which, paired with light-colored contact lenses, made my eyes sparkle vividly under the studio lamps.

Getting into the outfit was equally demanding. The tie on the white short-sleeved shirt was tricky—the white star motifs across the red tie look adorable, but getting it centered without tilting required patience. The black poofy skirt was snug to put on, with a tight back zipper. A major highlight was the pink and white striped stockings: made of stretchy fabric, they had to be pulled on carefully so the pink thigh straps and leg garters sat just right, flattering the leg contours without digging in too harshly. Because the legs featured intricate details, holding stances to keep the lines clean tested both leg and core strength, but powering through paid off.

Sitting in the pink gaming chair flanked by a pink PC and glowing monitor screens, with plushies scattered around, bathed the entire space in pink tones. Wearing the winged pink backpack and clutching that massive pink blaster, I felt drenched in pink from head to toe. This vibrant visual punch contrasted wonderfully with the red tie and black skirt, creating a delightful color-block effect. The small plush charm hanging on the chest added a bit of weight, yet it served as a lovely accent.

I must also mention the Tamagotchi hair accessory: I rushed out the door so hastily that I realized on set it was pinned upside down. I felt embarrassed, but the photographer noted that wearing it inverted actually gave off a casual, spontaneous charm, so we kept it on as a funny little quirk. Thanks to the photographer's running jokes, the atmosphere remained relaxed. He guided my emotions expertly, directing how to project a detached yet effortless gaze and leverage the hand props. For instance, the shot pointing toward the lens took multiple attempts to select; holding that pose tested arm endurance and steady focus.

My biggest takeaway from this session is that while this pink-themed Anime girl styling looks breezy and youthful, striking polished poses inside a serious studio setting is genuinely demanding. Holding arms upright, crossing legs without flinching, managing facial expressions under hot lights, and constantly minding skirt pleats and hair alignment was hard work. Makeup easily sweats under close-range lighting, too. Yet seeing the final retouched shots proved every bit of effort was justified. The lighting and camera angles captured her traits with complete fidelity.

I look forward to taking this character outdoors next time; a new environment could offer a fresh perspective, and exploring different facets of a character is immensely rewarding. Posing amid pink hues and plushies relies heavily on seamless coordination between model and props. With every position shift, the photographer reframed the shot to catch spontaneous, candid energy. I learned valuable posing techniques from this shoot, such as extending movement lines and highlighting leg contours. Being someone who loves diving into creative experiments, this session was deeply fulfilling. The high level of completion owes everything to the photographer's sharp eye and guidance, as well as my own determination to hold those demanding poses.
