[Wakaba Mutsumi cosplay] MyGO!!!!! Uniform Maiden Under the Sunlight - Image 1

Shooting Wakaba Mutsumi outdoors today, the sun was so piercingly bright that keeping my eyes open was nearly impossible; even with thorough preparation, the intense glare still forced me to squint. The shooting environment was indeed quite challenging—direct midday sunlight cast harsh facial shadows and caused my eyes to water constantly.

To faithfully capture Wakaba Mutsumi's aloof, slightly detached presence, I put considerable effort into the makeup. For the base, I selected a high-coverage, matte foundation to prevent oily shine under the blazing sun. Regarding the eye makeup, the focus was placed on defining the eyeliner and lower lashes, utilizing reddish-brown tones to evoke a delicate, fragile vulnerability, complemented by light brown contact lenses to lend a translucent clarity to the gaze. To ensure my facial features remained dimensional under strong light, contouring and highlighter placement had to be adjusted continuously according to the angles of the sun.

The wig was another major focal point. Long, straight mint-green hair easily looks frizzy or overly shiny under direct sunlight, so before heading out, I treated it with wig conditioning spray and smoothing serum, smoothing down stray flyaways at the crown as much as possible. The blunt bangs across the forehead also required constant vigilance so they wouldn't be tossed by the breeze or dampened by sweat, which would spoil that neat, substantial silhouette.

As for the outfit, this classic white-collared dark plaid uniform dress fit impeccably. The white collar features delicate pleating, while the deep green ribbon bow serves as a defining touch, and the fabric displayed rich texture under the sun. To harmonize with this uniform, I kept hand gestures as natural as possible during the shoot—lightly pinching the bow or smoothing the collar, subtle poses I practiced in front of the mirror at home. Because the dress has a deep-toned plaid pattern, the overall color balance never felt washed out despite the intense glare.

Controlling expressions was the steepest hurdle throughout the shoot. With the sunlight so blinding, keeping my eyes open without sunglasses was an uphill battle. I tried tilting my head down slightly, utilizing my bangs to block part of the glare while searching for the lens, or gently closing my eyes before slowly opening them. This half-open, half-closed state serendipitously captured Mutsumi's characteristic expression of cool detachment and subtle bewilderment.

Despite the tough conditions, I adore the interplay of light and shadow in the final shots; the harsh sunlight cast bold shadows across my cheeks and outfit, imbuing the frames with a cinematic narrative feel. Although the harsh glare caused some hurdles along the way, the resulting contrast and mood elevated the character's atmosphere beautifully, making every bit of effort well worth it.
