[Saber cosplay] Fate/stay night, My King Saber's Temperament and the Weight of the Sword - Image 1

This shoot selected a clean light purple background without the distraction of a complex real-scene set, primarily aiming to highlight the sharp look of this blue and white color-blocked costume. The iconic ahoge on top of the head and the large bowknot at the neckline are key details for restoring the character's temperament. Therefore, during the styling stage, the top section of the wig underwent special fixing and padding treatments to ensure that the complete curve is visible even when shooting from low angles, preventing it from collapsing.

To present a relatively natural state, a cross-legged sitting posture was chosen, with both hands resting on the horizontally placed sword. In this way, the overall center of gravity remains quite stable, eliminating the need to deliberately apply force to balance the prop, while allowing the lines of the hands to appear more relaxed and natural.

Let me share my thoughts on the production and wearing experience of this anime-style outfit. The most time-consuming part of the upper body uniform was the exquisite piping at the collar and cuffs, along with the details of the small bowtie featuring an iris pattern and metal buttons. The metallic-textured shoulder armor on the outside of the coat was actually lighter than imagined and didn't restrict the range of daily movements, making it quite flexible to move around in. The tight corset pattern around the waist is excellent, which, combined with those few silver metal buttons, elongated the overall visual proportions.

The prop sword served as an important bonus point for this shoot. The cold white of the blade paired with the deep blue of the costume looks visually very clean. Although the sword isn't too heavy, when placed horizontally across the legs, the tilt angle needed to be adjusted carefully to avoid looking awkward. With the left hand lightly resting on the hilt and the right hand naturally supporting the blade, to prevent the hand muscle lines from becoming stiff, I repeatedly experimented with several finger placement pressures and angles during the shoot.

On the makeup side, to fit the character's spiritual core, overly intense colors were avoided. The base makeup strove for clarity and transparency, with the focus placed on naturally elongating the eye makeup and enhancing the complexion with the lip color. Paired with the deep blue corset and the white skirt hem, the overall character's clean, cool, and aloof feel was beautifully brought out.

The pleated treatment of the skirt hem was a detail that had to be straightened out before shooting. After I sat down, the photographer kept helping to adjust the flow of the multiple layers of white fabric, ensuring the edges and overlapping parts did not look cluttered. The crisscross strap design at the ankle paired with black stockings also gave the legs a more layered visual effect, keeping them from looking too plain.

During the shoot, the key focus of coordination with the photographer lay in controlling the demeanor. Refusing exaggerated posing, I tried my best to maintain a calm and focused facial expression, which, combined with the hard lines of the sword in hand, aims to convey the character's steady and naturally authoritative side. The purple tone selected for the background appeared very restrained; it didn't steal from the blue clothing as the visual subject, while elevating the overall texture of the frame—making it an excellent match for this kind of high-saturation blue.

After the shoot wrapped up, the post-processing primarily retained the original texture of the clothing without excessive skin smoothing. Maintaining the actually captured light and shadow structure restores the true blue and white colors of the outfit. Every time I complete a set of character costumes and styling with dedication, seeing that it can ultimately present the expected temperament makes all the time and effort spent on early preparations entirely worthwhile.
