For this Flandre Scarlet shoot, we put a lot of thought into the scene and props. The red velvet background and vintage carved sofa, combined with scattered pearls, roses, and her iconic colorful crystal wings and skull elements, are meant to recreate the second mistress's innocent yet slightly dangerous aura. The costume features a classic red and black color scheme with plenty of ruffles. The puffy skirt and lace headpiece have a strong sense of layering, and to maintain the fluffiness of the dress, several layers of petticoats were worn underneath. The wig is flaxen gold, with the bangs and sideburns trimmed to fit the original design. Deep red colored contacts were used for the eyes, paired with vampire-style fangs props, which adds a fairy-tale-like eerie vibe under close-up shots. The biggest challenge during the shoot was actually switching expressions—showing a child-like pure smile while hiding a hint of madness in the eyes, such as when holding up an apple to invite you to taste it, or suddenly tilting the head toward the camera while holding a teddy bear. For lighting, soft warm light was used to highlight the skin tone and fabric texture, while side-backlighting outlined the hair and lace contours to give the frame more depth. Every interpretation of this classic Touhou Project character digs out a different kind of fun. Taking the opportunity of this Touhou Doujin content creation festival, I have expressed all my accumulated ideas in this Cosplay photoshoot.
