[Modernia cosplay] Goddess of Victory: Nikke Cafe Collaboration Maid Outfit Photo Reveal

"Would you like a small piece of cake? Maid Modernia is very happy to serve you!" This time I brought the cafe collaboration version of Modernia from Goddess of Victory: Nikke, and I'm so glad to present this look to everyone at the national anime convention.

This Modernia cosplay cafe collaboration version actually took a lot of thought from the preparation stage to the final reveal. The design of the entire costume recreates the essence of a cafe-themed maid outfit. The use of black and white check patterns combined with the bright yellow necktie and bows makes the entire outfit look both retro and filled with a lively anime idol feel. Furthermore, because the top is a cropped midriff design, the requirements for body lines are actually quite high; to achieve the effect in the photos, I paid special attention to core control and posture adjustment before shooting. The ruffles on the skirt hem are very intricate. To guarantee its fluffiness, I added more than one layer of petticoat inside, so that when walking around, the skirt hem can spread out like clouds, cooperating with the long yellow ribbons on both sides to give the whole person an excellent sense of movement.

Speaking of the makeup and wig, the silver-white wig required special handling to eliminate frizz, and the air bangs on the forehead were trimmed for quite a while to fit my facial contours. The red colored contacts are the soul; once worn, they instantly give a gaze that is sharp yet carries a touch of gentle texture. For the headwear's headband and ruffled hairband, every single fold was adjusted and fixed by hand bit by bit, out of fear that it might fall off while walking around the convention. Regarding accessories, I tried my best to replicate the tiny yellow bows on the socks and the details on the shoes; although they might not be very clear in the photos, as a coser, I demand that my personal standards must be fully met. In fact, doing cosplay often means competing with yourself, hoping to bring a beloved character from the screen into reality as part of my coser daily life.

On the day of the shoot, the national anime convention was extremely crowded with many passersby in the background, making it hard to get a clean, high-quality shot. Fortunately, our photographer, Mr. Wakaba, is highly experienced; he chose a low-angle, looking-up perspective, utilizing the modern architecture and natural light behind to capture that clear, transparent atmosphere typical of convention photos. The fuzzy golden rim light formed by the backlighting hitting the hair was a real surprise, filling the frame with a sense of dreaminess and youthful breath. At that time, to capture the natural essence of standing there with a small cake, I held that chibi figure prop in my hand, matching it with inviting and interacting poses, allowing myself to be fully immersed in this cafe maid character. Walking around in such a highly recognizable outfit, I was watched by everyone wherever I went; although I have a bit of social anxiety, thinking that I could bring a good visual experience to everyone helped me let go. In truth, continuous shooting is a major test of physical strength, and my legs were genuinely sore after a whole day, but seeing the behind-the-scenes snaps and the final retouched photos on the camera screen makes my heart feel a great sense of achievement. From a pure player to slowly being able to handle costume details and makeup on my own now, I've learned a lot about garment tailoring and color coordination along the way. When posing, how to display the character's confidence and how to better present the lines of the over-knee stockings and overall body proportions are all things that require constantly finding a feel for the camera during the shoot. This black, yellow, and white tri-color combination is highly eye-catching under actual convention lighting; if you were there on site, you would probably notice this color scheme instantly in the crowd.
