This photoshoot set essentially fulfilled a long-held angel dream of mine. Given the character lore and coordinate design, the overall tone of this shoot was anchored in sacred purity and serene tranquility. Before stepping into this character, I spent extensive time practicing facial control in the mirror; after all, conveying that blend of merciful grace and ethereal detachment required avoiding over-animated liveliness while steering clear of blank rigidity.
First, let's talk about the hair and makeup. For the wig, I selected long, pale-golden wavy curls; to prevent the synthetic fibers from looking cheap under strong lighting, I reshaped the curvature at the hair ends with a curling iron right before stepping before the camera. The core focus of the makeup rested entirely on the eyes: light green contact lenses paired with prominent false eyelashes, with eyeliner softly extended at the outer corners and balanced by an expansive wash of pink blush. This ensured that even when studio cameras washed out pigments, my facial contours retained defined three-dimensionality. For headwear, I chose a wide white veil bordered with embroidered lace, which draped beautifully to soften my jawline.
The garment features a dark, floor-length habit edged with white crucifix embroidery and lace paneling; to sustain its tailored silhouette, I wore a boned undergarment beneath. The element that earned both love and agony was undeniably the massive feathered angel wings behind my back. They were genuinely heavy in reality, and fluffing the feathers to maintain volume took nearly half an hour just to mount and calibrate. During shooting, I had to keep my spine locked straight at all times—otherwise, the uneven weight distribution would tilt the wings askew—leaving my shoulders intensely sore by the end of the session.
The set was styled after a pristine white cathedral, complete with graceful archways and the contours of rose windows. To infuse dynamic life into the composition, we prepared a white dove prop. That full-body frame cradling the white dove was a dual test of patience and stamina. Although the dove was a model, it possessed real weight, requiring my hands to find balanced anchor points without appearing stiff. Surrounded by scattered white blooms and flickering candles in the foreground, the photographer continually calibrated angles to eliminate chaotic ambient shadows.
As the cosplayer before the camera, the hardest challenge was sustaining razor-sharp emotional focus in my gaze. The very first image is a close-up taken through sheer white drapery; such compositions with foreground bokeh test the storytelling depth behind one's eyes intensely. Throughout that take, I kept myself immersed in a quiet, prayerful state—keeping emotions still yet tilting my chin up slightly toward the light, which, paired with the emerald irises, generated a calm serenity that pierced through the lens. Huizhou's weather was actually quite muggy, and wearing such a heavy, multi-layered habit while holding disciplined expressions brought out plenty of sweat; yet seeing the soft, seamless light transitions in the finished frames made every bit of effort feel worthwhile.
In post-production color grading, we deliberately preserved a high-key, luminous bloom without crushing the shadows, allowing the white elements across the scene to clip slightly to heighten that dreamlike, otherworldly aura. Being able to bring this character to life in this manner is immensely gratifying to me, and I hope everyone can feel this quiet, resolute power through this collection.
