For Seia's birthday, I decided to do a special commemorative shoot for her at the beach. The character chosen for this cosplay is Seia Yurizono from Blue Archive; to fit the summer seaside atmosphere, pairing the swimsuit with a yellow jacket was decided after repeatedly comparing her character designs. The white one-piece swimsuit I wore is a clean, classic piece, with the focus placed on the strap design across the back; throwing an oversized bright yellow jacket over it not only shielded from the sun, but also fluttered in the sea breeze to add wonderful visual depth.

For makeup, to highlight Seia's airy lightness, the eye makeup used soft pink tones which, paired with the long golden wig, looked exceptionally radiant and translucent under the sunlight. The fluffy animal ears on top of the head along with the yellow hat featuring an anchor ornament are the true soul of this styling. Even though shooting outdoors at the beach was scorchingly sunny and the sea breeze was fierce—requiring frequent pauses to fix the wig and hat, while constantly keeping an eye on the slippery reef rocks and incoming tide—the lighting quality when the final photos came out was a delightful surprise. Holding a translucent gradient swim ring while standing on the reefs and wading into the shallows, with the sparkling water reflecting onto the skin, that quintessential summer coolness was instantly dialed to the max.

As a cosplayer, I have always felt that the most captivating part of outdoor shoots is the uncontrollable natural light and the interaction with the surrounding environment. For this shoot, we deliberately chose the 3:00 to 4:00 PM window when the light is relatively soft, casting a vivid color contrast across the white swimsuit and yellow jacket. Standing atop the rocks, the sea breeze lifted the jacket into the perfect billow, which, paired with full-body framing, created an expansive sense of visual reach. Sitting in the water as waves crashed against me and splashed droplets everywhere soaked the clothes through, yet this organic dynamic tension is something a studio shoot can rarely replicate. This set has minimal complicated post-processing, essentially preserving the authentic light and shadow from the raw files. Posting this set today is primarily to commemorate this special day. May every day for Seia in Kivotos be just like the sunshine in these photos—bright, radiant, and free.
