[Remielle Dan cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Synthwave: The Collision of Dark Gothic and Long Legs in Black Stockings

This set of Remielle Dan cosplay from Zenless Zone Zero was shot at Space P2.

A great deal of effort went into pre-production to faithfully recreate this look. The wig was styled with pink layers and accented with black hair clips and elf ears. The makeup emphasized dark red eyeshadow and lip color, balanced by a pale foundation base. The outfit is a black-and-white gothic-style dress with a very short skirt; I specifically chose star-patterned garter Black stockings and red-soled high heels, a combination that elongates the leg proportions wonderfully. Wearing the massive black feathered wings on my back was quite tricky—being so broad, they easily obstructed body lines while posing, so my shoulder and back positioning needed constant fine-tuning.

The lighting in the scene was primarily warm amber, which paired with stacked speakers and vintage CRT televisions to create an authentic underground Synthwave vibe. The photographer utilized top and rim lighting to trace the body's curves, asking for the leg lines to be as extended as possible during seated poses. Sitting on the platform with my back against the stage stairs, crossing my legs alongside the red-soled heels made the leg lines appear remarkably slender on camera. For standing poses, opening my arms allowed the wings' cast shadows to add depth and dimension to the frame.

To amplify the vintage mood, the photographer controlled the lighting ratios impeccably. The black costume and black wings didn't collapse into a muddy dark clump under strong lights; instead, the fabric's sheen remained clear. Shooting this set gave me valuable insights into vintage gothic photography—it requires close harmony between body language and expression, such as maintaining piercing eye contact alongside a relaxed, confident demeanor to look truly effortless and cool.

Posing in front of staggered audio equipment made it easy to capture that dangerous yet confident aura. We adjusted through multiple postures during the shoot, such as side sitting, high leg lifts, and cocked ankles. Because high-angle and low-angle camera variations heavily impact visual tension, finding the right rhythm took time. Maintaining a refined posture required engaging the core, managing the angle of the wings, and minding the skirt's placement. For instance, the sequence of poses on prop crates or before the TV screens demanded not only naturally raised legs, but also fluid, un-stiff arm lines. The photographer frequently reminded me to lift my chin or drop my shoulders—subtleties crucial to capturing the character's demeanor.

The combination of retro hardware and long legs in Black stockings created a standout visual impact, pushing the atmosphere to its peak amid the rich, warm set tones. Returning to the garment design, the black-and-white contrast is bold and packed with small accessories: belt buckles at the waist, lace trims on the thighs, and a bow tie at the neckline all required meticulous alignment before every frame, as any slight tilt would cause visual flaws. I utilized these details while posing, resting a hand gently against the thigh lace or lifting a foot so the red sole framed the edge of the composition, enriching the framing while accentuating the dark, stylish tone.

Another memorable element was the tangible texture of the props. The edges of the speaker cabinets and reflections off the CRT monitor screens added vibrant layers to the visuals. My black outfit blended naturally into the ambient color palette without jarring contrasts. The process was far from easy—balancing on uneven steps in high heels while keeping an upright posture was demanding—yet the finished results made every effort worthwhile. Given the opportunity, I would love to explore more shoots in this style.
