The Koumajou Remilia version of Izayoi Sakuya is distinctly different from the classic blue-and-white Maid outfit in the original canon. For this shoot, I chose a Dark Gothic style makeup and styling route. The base foundation was made extremely pale with virtually no blush, paired with extensive black eyeshadow emphasizing the lower eyelids and black colored contacts, giving the entire face a cold, vacant look. Deliberately concealing the eyebrows concentrated all visual focus onto the eyes.

The wig consists of silver-white twin braids, topped with an intricately crafted lace headpiece that differs from the soft, fluffy texture of a typical Maid outfit. The costume fabric leans toward structured, dark pinstriped suiting, accented by a broad white collar featuring black piping and a cross motif, tied with a bright yellow-green necktie in the center for an intense color contrast. The fingerless gloves are also matching; incorporating more finger poses added delicate line accents against the dark background.

The on-set lighting was kept quite dim, relying primarily on cool-toned side and backlighting for shaping. With half of my face buried in shadow, this high-contrast lighting ratio truly brought out the oppressive, dangerous atmosphere characteristic of Koumajou Remilia. The camera position was deliberately lowered for a slight low-angle shot, enhancing that detached, ruthless aura before the lens. We cycled through many poses during the shoot; in Photo 2, holding one hand slightly raised to hook a strand of hair felt like the best expression of this head maid version's balance between stillness and motion.

When shooting such dark-style characters, unity between on-set lighting and post-processing is crucial. To maintain shadow detail without overbrightening, light positions had to be readjusted repeatedly. Executing this style really tests one's patience—just securing the position of the braids took half an hour, as turning my head easily messed up the wig and disrupted the overall silhouette. Makeup longevity also required special care; with heavy dark eye makeup, summer heat easily causes oils to smudge the makeup, but fortunately the temperature on shooting day was very pleasant and everything stayed well-controlled. Every time I put on this outfit, it feels like an immersive character experience; exploring the character's conflicted yet focused inner state through this dark externalized form brings immense fulfillment. Completing works in this style requires patience. Fine-tuning details like tie creases and cufflink placements best expresses the sharp, capable demeanor of the Koumajou Remilia setting. Overall, this photoshoot expresses an interpretation of Izayoi Sakuya under the Koumajou Remilia setting; within the broad framework of Touhou Project, seeing such a tension-filled character portrayal is truly fascinating. The composition capturing hand movement was actually the most intriguing: gently twirling hair tips in the shadows evoked a sense of an assassin lurking in darkness preparing to strike, perfectly fitting the overall thematic look.
