It has been several years since I last shot Reimu. In 2025, I put on the red and white shrine maiden outfit again to feel the breath of Gensokyo under the sunlight at Kire Station. This set of photos is mainly to record the accumulation of my understanding of the character over the years, as well as some new attempts in makeup and styling. This time, the costume integrates elements of Lolita outfit coordination on top of the traditional red and white color scheme. A large amount of lace and frills enhances the layering of the skirt, and the sleeve design in particular adds more dynamism to the movements. The gohei prop serves as the visual focus. During the shoot, I intentionally designed a few small swinging motions to let the wind sway the paper tassels, making the dynamic candid shots feel exceptionally vivid. The wig was meticulously styled; the long twin-tails balanced the weight of the headpiece and didn't easily get messy during the shoot. Choosing to do this station photoshoot at an old Japanese-style train station was ideal. The wooden architecture, blue glass windows, quaint steps, and the vintage bicycle nearby all carry a strong sense of Japanese daily life. This real environment wonderfully neutralizes the flamboyance of the cosplay. The lighting chosen was the harsh light of the afternoon. Although it requires high control over shadows, combining it with a large aperture to blur the background makes the character stand out prominently in the frame, with brighter and cleaner colors. Although many passersby went past the scene, everyone kept their distance. The photographer's snapshot speed was very fast, especially when capturing the moments of the flying skirt hem and the swinging gohei—the timing of the shutter was absolutely critical. The makeup was not too heavy, keeping it as fresh and clean as possible. The lipstick chosen was a vibrant orange tone, which better fits Reimu's lively nature. This time, I'm releasing a few teasers first as an initial response to this long-awaited shoot. From setting up the scene to adjusting the costume, every official photo requires a lot of preparation. I hope the sense of motion and composition in these few pictures can convey the character's own casual elegance and agility.
