The shooting setup for this session was designed with an incredible sense of atmosphere. The overall scene utilized a massive red curtain as the background, paired with black frame structures to evoke a mysterious yet vintage gothic theater feel. The ground was strewn with red flowers, enhancing the visual layering of the frame significantly. This is the cosplay finished photo set we prepared for the new standard of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. To fit the Scarlet Devil Mansion's ambiance, we poured immense effort into the set design, especially the dark red curtain in the background and scattered red roses in the foreground, forming a striking visual echo.
I am portraying Sakuya Izayoi this time. To faithfully recreate the classic Maid outfit styling, I selected a blue-and-white color-blocked dress paired with a white apron, topped with the signature white ruffled headband and a silver-gray twin-tail wig. On my legs, I wore Black stockings paired with black shoes. Regarding makeup, to accentuate the character's aura, the eye makeup was drawn clean and sharp, while the lip shade was chosen as a natural light red. I specially prepared a silver pocket watch prop this time; lifting it in my right hand while the chain hangs down naturally, paired with a half-kneeling pose, helps better showcase the character's temperament while breaking the static feel of the frame.
The Young Mistress @于是我改了名字 wore a classic Lolita dress blending black and red, wearing a lace soft cap and hugging a brown teddy bear while seated on a chair with her legs crossed and a hint of melancholy in her eyes. Her posture hugging the teddy bear was exceptionally natural, harmonizing with the black skirt hem and white lace to present a classical yet faintly melancholic charm. During the shoot, we experimented with numerous interactive postures, such as me half-kneeling beside her while she turns her head slightly to look at me, both of us facing the lens together, or me half-kneeling on one leg holding the pocket watch toward the camera while she looks down stroking the teddy bear. The setting of the Scarlet Devil Mansion inherently carries a mysterious yet gorgeous trait, so we maximized this atmosphere in our location selection and prop matching.
The photography teacher put immense dedication into lighting: facial light remained soft while the background fell into shadow, making the subject stand out remarkably against a strong color contrast. Within the red-black-white color keynote, the blue Maid outfit and golden hair formed a wonderful visual pop of color. The post-processing also boosted the red saturation, giving the images a punchier impact. This set took roughly an entire afternoon from initial prep to on-site shooting. The costume details were extraordinarily tedious, such as the lace trims and collar bows; we spent substantial time adjusting them to ensure perfection before the lens. The wig styling was also groomed multiple times, requiring the silver-gray twin tails to maintain a certain volume so they looked three-dimensional under the flash.
Throughout the shoot, we continually adjusted poses and angles. To capture the most natural gazes and interactions, the photographer provided plenty of guidance. The overall color grading was controlled with absolute precision; under the red-black dominant tones, the subject's skin tone and fair lace parts stood out exceptionally. The entire shooting process was immensely joyful, and my collaboration with @果冻鱼 was wonderfully tacit. After wrapping up, we went for hot pot together to celebrate the smooth completion of the shoot, looking forward to the next new theme.
