Taking advantage of the weekend, I took out this Angel Rem cosplay outfit for an initial fitting test. Comparing it with the character setting reference images, I am currently missing the hair accessories. The pure white floating halo on top of the head and the feather wings on the back are already in place, but the hair ornament accessories haven't been completed yet and will need further adjustment before the actual shoot. The overall visual effect might feel a tiny bit OOC (Out of Character), so I'd like to apologize in advance to fans who love this character design. This is just an everyday Cosplay fitting session and not the final polished look.
Let's start with the hair and headpiece. The wig uses a high-saturation bright blue, paired with the iconic white cross hairpin and white feather-like decorations on both sides. Although it's an affordable sample wig, the volume and fluffiness are great. The bangs fall right at the brow bone level, and the sideburns on both sides are generous enough to frame the face nicely, perfectly matching her casual hair color from the series. The floating halo on top is fixed with transparent invisible supports; it stays quite stable when worn and won't fall off as long as I don't shake my head violently, solving a major presentation headache.
Moving on to the upper body garment: it features a pure white color scheme, crafted from chiffon with a slight structured drape and extensive ruffled pleating. The off-the-shoulder sleeves give the overall silhouette a light feel, exposing the lines of the collarbone and shoulders, complemented by a lace choker band that feels sweet yet subtly, refreshingly sexy. An oversized white bow sits across the chest, which creases easily when laid flat; I made sure to steam-iron it before fitting to restore its full, three-dimensional shape. The off-shoulder flare sleeves offer good range of motion without pinching the arms, though I need to be careful when reaching for props to avoid overstretching the shoulder fabric. The white ruffled wristbands add depth to the arms and look great when waving during stage interactions.
As for the feather wing props on the back, their impressive size extends well beyond shoulder width, yielding an ethereal, fairy-like texture. The feather layering is delicately crafted—stiff white down feathers are used on the inner side while large white plumes cover the exterior, revealing a subtle translucent quality under light. The wings are worn using two transparent shoulder straps secured with chest buttons. Although they have some weight, the center of gravity rests near the shoulder blades, making them very stable whether standing or sitting cross-legged. The sacred aura brought by this physical accessory boosts the overall outfit significantly.
The lower half is one of the most eye-catching parts of the entire look. The skirt length stops right near the upper thigh, with fluffy ruffles along the hem that create a tantalizing peek-a-boo effect perfectly aligned with anime aesthetic tropes. To complement the legs, I chose white lace hollow-out thigh-high stockings. Unlike common smooth knit white thigh-highs, this white lace outfit style introduces a soft skin texture through its mesh design, making the leg lines look longer and more refined. Paired with the miniskirt, it delivers a powerful visual impact. During fitting, I noticed that the floor rug pairs wonderfully with these white lace stockings; stretching out my legs while seated amplifies the intricate details of the stockings.
These test photos were taken facing a mirror with my phone, without professional lighting or photography, relying purely on indoor incandescent lights. However, this casual feel actually gives me more confidence for the official shoot on August 8th. By then, I will complete the hair accessories, design suitable battle or angel poses, and fine-tune my makeup. For someone who frequently cosplays the same character, trying on a cosplay costume each time is a fresh opportunity to understand and connect with her. The most important thing in cosplay isn't achieving 100% perfection, but finding a state of self-satisfaction within the chosen outfit and scene. I look forward to heading to the convention in August with complete accessories to share the joy of this character with fellow fans.
