[Marin Kitagawa cosplay] Fitting Log, Striving to Restore Marin's Casual Outfit - Image 2

This fitting was mainly to recreate Marin Kitagawa's classic casual outfit from My Dress-Up Darling. I've always felt that Marin's energetic, lively, and outgoing personality is particularly hard to capture. I always feel that I'm usually rather introverted, and the photos might look stiff with an expressiveness rating of almost zero. However, since I've already prepared this outfit, I still wanted to bite the bullet and give it a try. After all, a fitting is also an important step to test the accuracy of the recreation.
The core of this pairing lies in that effortless gyaru vibe. The white translucent long-sleeve knit top is oversized, and I deliberately wore it in a one-shoulder style, letting one side slip down naturally to reveal the shoulder, with the hem tied into a knot right at the waist. This way of wearing it is not only cool, but also maximizes the display of the waist and abdomen lines, reflecting the character's confidence. To add a sense of layering, it was paired with thin black straps inside, along with those distressed blue ultra-short denim hot pants. The washed frayed-edge effect is very natural, basically nailing Marin's flamboyant yet slightly sexy style.
I put a lot of thought into the makeup and styling this time. The blonde straight-bangs wig was trimmed and styled for quite a while. To fit the 2D feel, I specially wore pink contact lenses. The eye makeup leans towards the pinkish side, with emphasis on the blending at the outer corners of the eyes and the brightening of the lower eyelids. Combined with a glossy lip glaze, I tried my best to get close to Marin's classic look. The white-rimmed sunglasses with pink lenses on top of my head are also the finishing touch, instantly bringing out that seaside vacation or street shooting vibe.
During the actual shoot, because it was a pure white studio shoot with bright lighting and not many props or scene elements to rely on, I had to completely rely on physical movements to convey the emotion. The first pose—holding the sunglasses with one hand and turning the body slightly—was to try to look a bit more confident, looking straight into the camera lens. The second pose—pulling the hem with both hands and lowering the head slightly—aimed to express a casual little bit of sexiness. Adjusting the poses actually took more time than expected. Because I wanted to show a lively feeling, but my body language tends to get stiff, the photographer kept guiding me from the side, having me try pushing up my sunglasses or pretending to adjust my clothes. Because the white top's material is quite translucent, it reflected light a bit under the studio lights; we adjusted the angles several times to capture that natural draping effect. The edges of the denim shorts were also repeatedly checked to see if they matched the casual feel of the design. Although I still felt a bit reserved and couldn't fully release Marin's extroverted social butterfly energy, as a fitting log, I'm personally quite satisfied with the overall texture. The texture of the clothes and the light-and-shadow effect are very clean, and I'm very grateful for the photographer's lighting and candid shots, which made my slightly awkward performance look fairly natural. Let's consider this set of photos as a stage summary, and I hope to make some progress next time I cosplay an energetic character.
