It all begins with that remembered melody. Coming to the coast to shoot The Shorekeeper cosplay from Wuthering Waves, the wind was fierce as waves continually crashed against the reefs. Extensive preparation went into doing this look justice. The fabric is exceptionally lightweight and translucent; the strap details across the neck, shoulders, and arms required fine adjustments to contour cleanly to the body. The blue starburst emblem on the chest serves as the visual centerpiece, with its semi-sheer design taking on an ethereal, dewy radiance in natural light. Tucking the gradient light-blue-to-white wig behind my ears and pulling up the hood brought the character's signature ambiance to life instantaneously.

The Blue Butterfly prop was the beating heart of this shoot. Because the sea breeze was relentless, keeping the butterfly perched steadily on my fingertips was nearly impossible, as it kept blowing away. To convey that gentle, weightless cradle, I used ultra-fine wire to secure it, later painting it out frame-by-frame in post to preserve that fleeting, poetic moment. Wind is always the greatest challenge in Beach photography—the skirt and sheer tulle whipped ceaselessly, so achieving that balance between weightlessness and tranquil composure meant catching my breath the exact instant each shutter clicked. Squinting against harsh backlighting was grueling, yet seeing the glittering sea surface and the luminous rim light tracing every strand of hair made every effort worthwhile.

This went beyond an ordinary cosplay shoot; it felt like stepping briefly into the realm she inhabits. The raw chill of the environment forged a mesmerizing dialogue with the delicate diaphanous garments. We remained by the shore until the sun dipped toward the horizon and dusk fell, watching the water shift from translucent cerulean to ink-deep navy, with the butterfly standing out brilliantly against the twilight glow. Free of artificial sets, a single gown, a few butterflies, and the vast natural seascape were all it took to complete this visual journey.
