This time at the comic con, my partner and I cosplayed Jinhsi and Changli from Wuthering Waves. It took about a month or so to prepare these outfits beforehand, from material selection and pattern making to custom accessories, practically doing everything ourselves. Because both characters' costumes feature plenty of gradients, light tulle, and metal elements, the actual texture and glossiness differ significantly under lighting, so we tried several kinds of fabrics. The semi-transparent silk tulle and satin combination we finally settled on gives a refraction effect under the flash that comes closest to the original artwork's feel. Styling the wigs was also a massive project. Jinhsi's silvery-white long hair needed volume treatment, and the branch-like headpiece and floral decorations on top had to be fixed very securely with hairpins and hairspray, otherwise they would easily fall off while walking around the venue. Changli's pink-and-white gradient wig required careful attention to the parting and styling, with plenty of hair inserts added to support the ring-like structure on top. In terms of makeup, to match the characters' ethereal vibe, the eye makeup emphasized lower eyelashes and pink blending at the outer corners of the eyes, light-colored contact lenses were chosen, and the foundation was applied relatively fair and clean, which looks even more translucent under the strong exposure of convention photos.

Our shooting area that day was mainly in a corner of the venue without blocking the aisles; although the lighting was relatively dim, we brought our own fill light. Coordinating duo poses was a challenge. The black folding fan in Changli's hand was not only a prop but also helped with composition. To showcase the layers of the clothes, we deliberately shot dynamic leg-raising and turning actions, which fully displayed the drape of the high-slit skirt hem and sleeves. As for shoes, I chose white lace-up platform high heels, and my partner wore transparent-heeled sandals; on one hand, this elongates the leg lines, and on the other, it fits the lightweight feel of the entire styling. In the set of photos where we stepped on metal stools, to ensure safety, we slowly found our center of gravity and adjusted our postures bit by bit to make our body curves look as natural as possible.

The foot traffic at the convention site was huge and the temperature was not low; wearing so many layers of tulle and accessories definitely made it easy to sweat. However, since we frequently do outdoor shoots, we are already quite experienced with touch-ups and costume maintenance. I carried a mini fan and anti-slip tape with me, heading to the rest area every so often to adjust the wig and the metal decoration on the chest to ensure the clothes weren't messy. The photographer for these convention photos was extremely skilled at capturing motion, snapping many moments of natural interaction. Overall, cosplaying Jinhsi and Changli from Wuthering Waves this time met our expected results in terms of costume accuracy, material expressiveness, and the creation of a duo atmosphere. If there's an opportunity in the future, we hope to shoot at an outdoor location with more of a traditional martial arts vibe to further enrich the frame composition.
