The theme for this anime-style photography session was set as a mysterious girl in a dim garden, with an overall purple color tone. We specially set up Roman columns, a birdcage, crystal candlesticks, and a large amount of hanging wisteria, aiming to create an atmosphere somewhere between dream and reality. For the costume, I chose a white and purple patchwork tube dress paired with asymmetrical sleeves and thigh-high boots. Especially the hollow-out strap design on the legs required highly specific camera angles during the shoot, because a careless mistake would make the shape of the legs look less smooth. The most important piece of this gear was that massive sickle; the laser coating and metal-textured blade were heavy and substantial. Lifting it with a single hand required a lot of core strength, but I had to push through for the visual tension of the frame. The thorns and floral elements on the headpiece echoed the overall styling. The wig featured light purple, slightly wavy long hair, and I deliberately kept the layering when trimming it to make it easier to create a flowing effect. During the shoot, we experimented with a few different lighting setups. Casting purple light from the side combined with a white background light gave the skin a cool tone, while using the warm light of the crystal lamps as accents. This contrast between warm and cool enhanced the three-dimensional depth. Actually, storing and packing this set of props was a huge hassle; just transporting the birdcage and columns took a lot of time, but seeing the interweaving effect of light and shadow in the final photos made it feel totally worth it. After all, high-quality cosplay is inseparable from early preparation and on-site scheduling. From makeup to pose guidance, every step requires a tacit understanding with the photographer. I selected a few representative photos to share. In the pictures, I am holding the sickle horizontally, looking a bit lazy yet vigilant. In fact, I was adjusting my breathing during the shoot because that column was so high that sitting on it made me panic a bit, but the photographer captured a relatively relaxed state. This final close-up was taken while crouching, looking directly into the lens with the light from the crystal lamps shining on my face, pushing the atmosphere to its peak. Every shoot is a dialogue between the character and myself; treat the details with heart, and the photos will naturally speak for themselves.
