Having shot this set of Moriya Suwako cosplay by the stream under high temperatures in August, I feel a great sense of satisfaction now that the materials are sorted and I see the final photos. The entire process, spanning from prop preparation and custom costume design to the final look under natural light, took a long time.

When conceiving this outdoor shoot, we thought about integrating the "native god" and "frog" elements from the character's original setting into a real stream environment. The tassels and eye ornaments on the straw hat took a lot of thought during production. To match the setting, they were specially reinforced multiple times, and fortunately, they didn't fall apart during the shoot even in the wind. The costume features a white and purple color scheme with wide sleeves; the outer purple fabric has a subtle luster, while the inner layer is a white pleated petticoat, giving the whole outfit great layering. Although beautiful, it gets heavy when soaked in water during outdoor shooting, and with the skirt hem dragging in the water, I had to move with extreme caution.

The props used this time also included a custom bamboo staff and an all-natural lotus leaf. The lotus leaf was picked from a nearby pond, bearing fresh water droplets, which gave it a very natural translucency under the sunlight. Red tassel decorations were specially tied to both ends of the bamboo staff, adding some design details while forming a warm-and-cool color contrast with the purple tones of the overall costume.

Another consideration in the composition was mastering the natural light in the forest. We specifically chose the afternoon when the tree shadows were most whirling, taking a waterfall dam and jagged stream rocks as our main shooting locations. Letting sun flecks filter through the canopy onto the rocks and water surface of the shallows created a frame that merges raw natural charm with a divine aura. No overly complex filter processing was done in post-production; instead, it focused on restoring the light-dark contrast seen by the naked eye on-site, preserving the highlights on the water surface and rocks.

The shooting process was a real test of physical endurance and focus. The rocks in the stream were wet and slippery, making it unstable to stand on them while wearing the matching leather shoes and white over-the-knee socks. Coupled with the wide skirt hem frequently tripping me up, many dynamic movements actually required repeated attempts to capture. Especially for the pose of standing on one leg on a stream rock and raising the bamboo staff, I repeatedly adjusted my center of gravity. To find the right angle, the photographer Ting Feng Shuo Yun stepped straight into the deep water zone; they were incredibly professional. Special thanks also go to the assistant who helped fan me and touch up my makeup during the shoot; doing an outdoor shoot in the dead of summer is truly not easy.

The overall atmosphere of the frame focuses on a translucent and organic feel, rather than deliberately constructing a lofty, detached divine majesty, instead blending seamlessly into this mountain stream. In such a natural setting, with the wind blowing my hair and the tassels on the hat, combined with the shimmering reflections on the water surface, I am thoroughly satisfied with the final result of this Anime-style photography set. Next, I want to record this look in some other scenes and look forward to challenging different styles.
