This cosplay fitting combination during the holiday met my expectations perfectly, from the accessories to the overall look. The first thing I did when I got the wig was to style the bangs and the top of the head. Although this light-colored long straight hair is flowing and elegant, if the crown isn't volumized, it will look too flat against the scalp when shooting from the side or a low angle. I needed to use a curling iron to add some curve to the hair ends and then use styling spray to lock in the high-volume crown structure. The top features an off-the-shoulder design with criss-cross lacing; the shoulder width of this style is just right, but with the bow and metal decorations on the chest, if the back drawstring isn't adjusted perfectly, the neckline easily slips down when walking. I repeatedly adjusted the tightness several times during the fitting to stabilize it.
The feel and center of gravity of the prop were parts I cared about quite a bit this time. Because the long handle of the staff has a large horizontal span, if the angle tilts too much when holding it with one hand, it easily looks top-heavy in a mirror selfie. After trying several holding postures at different angles, I found that tilting the bottom slightly outward while keeping the arms naturally hanging down distributes the weight more evenly between the upper and lower body, allowing the geometric leaf details of the prop to be showcased better. The over-the-knee socks on the legs feature several cutout designs, which, combined with the heel height of the boots, pull the overall visual center of gravity upward. However, you have to be careful with the placement of the sock bands; if they are too tight, they will squeeze the thigh meat out, and if they are too loose, they slip down easily, so they need to be adjusted to a perfectly snug fit.
In terms of clothing details, the fabric of the skirt hem is relatively structured, which allows the multi-layered irregular cuts to flare out naturally when standing, forming an excellent three-dimensional layered effect. However, a structured fabric also means you have to be careful when storing and folding it, otherwise it can leave permanent creases. The skirt has a certain weight once all the accessories and shoulder straps are attached, so when bending over or squatting down, you need to watch out whether the metal buckles might snag the tulle edges. After a full round of trial fitting, I'm quite satisfied with both the accuracy and comfort of this Blue-themed outfit.
Since I'm heading out to the May Day anime convention to meet up and take photos with friends, I need to think ahead about how to get the best results on-site. I can use the side-backlight at the convention venue to illuminate the edges of the hair, enhancing the translucent feel of the strands while avoiding the harsh top lighting that causes heavy light pollution. For the background, I can look for relatively clean booths or walls to minimize interference from cluttered objects. When taking photos, the grip on the prop must be stable, which will make the overall posture appear more extended and expressive. By adjusting my posture and the skirt hem while maintaining a natural stance, I should be able to capture some great photos when interacting with friends at the convention.
