[Hanya Cosplay] Decree of the Ten-Lords Commission Judge: A Mortal Visitor Under Starlight

I plan to find an opportunity to shoot this again. Although the atmosphere of these night photography shots turned out quite compelling, I've always held higher expectations for this set. During my review, I felt that certain costume details weren't fully showcased on camera, and because the schedule on set was rushed, we couldn't thoroughly test various poses and angles—so this reshoot plan is already on my agenda.

Choosing dusk and night for this session was intentionally tailored to complement her aloof, solemn demeanor in the Role-playing game. Costume-wise, the off-shoulder top beautifully highlights shoulder lines, but demands strict physical shape management—I deliberately watched my diet before shooting. The outfit is packed with accessories: the thick metal neck ring required constant angle adjustments to avoid overexposure glaze under lights. Translucent black sleeve covers paired with silver chains and beads were somewhat tedious to put on, but entirely worth it for visual layering. The waist belt with its heart-shaped pendant and the intricate geometric patterns on the blue sash embody the very soul of this look.

During shooting, to honor her identity as a Ten-Lords Commission judge, red spider lilies were scattered across the grass beside me—their vibrant red serving as a perfect visual accent against the night. For lighting, I requested dual-color-temperature rim lights: cool blue from behind lit up the edges of my silver-white wig and blue cuffs, while a soft diffused fill light illuminated my face to avoid harsh shadows and heighten a sharp, distant gaze. Sustaining that pose holding the long prop suspended in midair for extended periods heavily tested my arm strength.

Yet what left the deepest impression was kneeling on the ground. The grass was prickly, and to ensure my skirt and ribbons draped naturally across the foliage, my knees couldn't shift at all amid ants and dry grass, all while maintaining a steady, cold gaze into the camera's light source. The photographer captured that close-up looking upward—eyes carrying detachment and indifference, perfectly fitting a judge executing laws across the realms of the living and the dead.

For post-processing, skin textures were preserved without over-smoothing. Effort went mainly into refining metallic reflection glares and overlaying floating petals and light specks. Those blue particle effects echoed her subtle spiritual energy fluctuations.

However, as I mentioned initially, I believe there's still ample room for improvement. Next time, I plan to abandon outdoor environments entirely for a pitch-black indoor studio, using smoke machines to build dense dry-ice fog paired with hard overhead lighting and a subtle teal under-light to recreate the oppressive, sound-swallowing atmosphere of the Ten-Lords Commission underworld. I also want to add glowing VFX along the blade edges. Though reshooting means re-styling the wig and re-donning these complex straps, every Hanya cosplay is a re-deconstruction of the character—and meeting a better version of myself on camera makes it all worthwhile.
