Today I'd like to share the anime cosplay photoshoot and shooting details of this Wuthering Waves Suoming. When I first received the character design, my most intuitive feeling was that the layers of costumes, makeup, and props were extremely rich. The red hair double-bun styling has a strong visual impact. To restore the texture of the wig, I spent two days styling and trimming it in advance. The hair ends feature a slight pinkish-white gradient, which required special techniques to comb and set layer by layer. The two golden hollow bell accessories on top of the head also needed repeated angle adjustments during wearing to ensure they didn't break character or expose anything when the camera turned, while also balancing the center of gravity to ensure comfort during long-time shooting.

In terms of makeup, the echo between the red contact lenses and the red hair is the most crucial part. For the eye makeup, I used dark eyeshadow to deepen the eye socket contour, and dotted a few sparkles on the lower eyelid to make the gaze better fit the character's temperament. The clothing details tested patience to the extreme; the complex structure at the front neckline, the black wristbands on the arms, along with those straps with metal buckles, took more than half an hour to wear and arrange. The position of every single strap and the folding of every bow directly affected the overall effect of the frame, and these had to be handled properly before going on set.

The scene was arranged indoors paved with tatami mats, where wooden furniture, calligraphy cloth curtains, paper umbrellas, and pink flower branches in the corner constructed a rich Chinese fantasy atmosphere. During the shoot, we utilized the on-site everlasting lights and window light, adopting side-backlighting to outline the hair strands of the wig. To showcase the character's different states, I tried multiple sitting postures. Supporting the cheek with one hand leaning against the table edge, or sitting on a wooden chair with crossed legs—these poses were designed to match the cut of the clothes while showcasing the lines of the legs. In that picture holding the umbrella, after the camera angle was lowered, the lines of the umbrella ribs and the body formed a great geometric composition. The barefoot part actually tests lens expression quite a bit; the extension of the instep and the natural relaxation of the toes had to be intentionally practiced to showcase that casual, lazy feel.

In action guidance, the photographer and I kept communicating, trying to use tiny angle changes to capture the character's vividness. For example, in the look-back shot, it was necessary to control the scattering arc of the long hair, cooperating with the shelter of the paper umbrella and the landing point of the gaze to achieve a now-you-see-it-now-you-don't visual effect. When there are no props, hand movements must also be natural and not stiff. Wooden chairs, bamboo shadows, and flowers—the interweaving of these elements made the content of the entire set of pictures richer. Although the whole process was exhausting, the moment I saw the final photos, I felt that the energy and time paid were completely worthwhile. This style with Chinese fantasy colors, matched with costumes, makeup, and props, can indeed present a very nice texture.
