[Exusiai the New Covenant cosplay] Everyday Life of an Arknights Laterano Messenger

This set of convention photos features the character Exusiai the New Covenant, set on-site at the Arknights Only convention. Before shooting, I was really worried if the red wig would look too harsh under strong light, but the photographer handled the lighting and post-processing very softly, beautifully preserving the fluffy texture along the edges of the red hair. Combined with the white geometric shard effects in the background, the atmosphere was directly pushed to the max.

Costume-wise, the materials used for this black-and-white color-blocked gown are very refined. The main visual on the chest is the embroidered pattern of the sun and astronomical motifs, with lines and proportions accurately restored; the cross-star and moon elements below the emblem fit the Laterano Sankta background seamlessly. The high-collar design paired with a ring of translucent lace around the neck elongates the neck line. The cuffs feature layered ruffles with black lace, which not only flatters the arms but also offers a beautiful drape with every movement.

Makeup-wise, to fit Exusiai the New Covenant's temperament, I didn't draw overly heavy angular eyebrows. Instead, I swept pinkish-orange blush across the middle of my face and under the eyes to create a subtle sunburned or post-battle flush. Combined with the red-brown eyeshadow beneath the eyes, the gaze looks more focused. The amber-colored contact lenses are the finishing touch, making the eyes look clear yet divine.

Regarding props, the halo above my head was crafted with metal wire; its floating effect was mainly achieved through camera angles and post-processing. During shooting, I really had to be careful not to get the wig tangled with the halo. The small red ball in my hand was the only accessory I brought that day; although small, it stood out vividly against the black-and-white outfit, serving as a perfect guiding prop for poses.

Convention venues are always bustling with people coming and going, making convention photos much harder than studio shoots—it's easy to catch passersby in the background or get flustered. Fortunately, the photographer captured the moments with great precision. We specifically found this backdrop, which, paired with the radial white light and shadow effects on the side, instantly made the entire image dynamic and three-dimensional. Instead of choosing a complex convention background, using a relatively clean solid-colored backdrop allowed all attention to focus on the character's styling and demeanor.

Honestly, the most tricky part of cosplaying this character was how to convey that everyday yet solemn feel of a Laterano Sankta. That's why I chose a relatively gentle set of actions—like softly reaching out a hand or passing the ball forward—avoiding overly dramatic poses that might ruin the overall atmosphere. The black-and-white color scheme looks great on camera, but sometimes white lace and embroidery can turn grey in dim lighting. Controlling color temperature and white balance during shooting was crucial, making this shoot a real test for the Anime-style photography execution.

Every time I cosplay a character like this, it heavily tests my wig-trimming skills. The layering of this red wig was finally nailed after going through several ruined wigs. The curve of the bangs and side locks contoured my face shape just right, and paired with the white bow accessory, it carries a cute yet reliable feel. Although it's a long-sleeved gown, the fabric offers good breathability, so staying at the venue for most of the day didn't feel stuffy. The atmosphere at Arknights Only is always fantastic, and everyone recognized this character look instantly. Exchanging thoughts with fellow fans was truly joyful. The composition chosen by the photographer this time offered a front-facing perspective, perfectly highlighting the holy emblem pattern on the costume, giving it a strong sense of ceremony.
