[Suzuran Cosplay] Thunder in the Azure Dream cosplay in Arknights: Drowsy snapshots in the piano room

Whenever I see a White piano and flower sea setup in shades of blue and white, it's easy to picture gentle and healing imagery. The official Suzuran Cosplay photoshoot for "Thunder in the Azure Dream cosplay" from Arknights that I'm sharing today was specifically chosen to be shot in a white piano scene surrounded by floral clusters. The original theme was conceived as "a little fox enrolled in piano interest classes by her parents," so that drowsy state of being too sleepy in class and leaning against the piano keys became the core expression of this photo set.

Suzuran has always felt quiet, gentle, and earnestly serious to me. The white-toned outfit worn this time features a loose fit, with layered ruffles and lettuce trims at the collar; the crowning touch is that deep red velvet bow tie, whose red-and-white contrast makes the look instantly recognizable. The lace headband on top and the light blonde wig complement each other beautifully, with the soft yellow hair texture looking lighter and silkier under soft lighting. To recreate the character's endearing and obedient demeanor, we deliberately selected a soft pink-and-peach color palette for the makeup without heavy eyeshadow, emphasizing under-eye blush and slightly downturned eyeliner so that even while resting with eyes closed, an innocent and gentle softness is conveyed.

During the shoot, adjusting the poses and surrounding props took considerable effort. First was the woven rattan basket filled with various blue and white flowers; to keep it steady on the piano lid, the base had to be secured with prop putty to prevent slipping. The wide, pale-pink chiffon ribbon on the basket caught the light gorgeously, creating a layered chromatic contrast against the dark wicker, the white piano, and the blue blossoms. While posing, I chose to rest over my crossed arms with my weight leaning against the piano keys and lid edge. While it looks relaxed, it actually required controlled balance to avoid flattening the wig or shifting the bow tie.

Photographer Yipu excels at atmospheric shooting. He utilized a wide aperture and soft diffused lighting so the whole frame was enveloped in gentle illumination, casting a soft rim light along my hair strands as if wrapped in a morning mist. With ample yet gentle light, it highlighted the white costume and intricate lace details. To capture that authentic feeling of being "too sleepy to keep one's eyes open," we didn't avoid tired micro-expressions, naturally freezing the semi-lucid moments between dreaming and waking, which gave the Cosplay photography far more storytelling depth than forcing wide-open eyes.

The accompanying wig was also styled in advance with attention to detail, intentionally textured to look slightly fluffy and tousled to enhance the languid vibe rather than looking sharp and rigid. According to the lore, she is not a sharp or fierce character, but a growing, child-like young lady.

Although many have photographed the White piano and flower sea setting, we aimed for a subtle sense of contrast with this specific Thunder in the Azure Dream cosplay skin in Arknights. Whereas many shoot energetic or dynamic poses for this skin, we opted for a static, laid-back tone to break away from conventions. A few blue petals had fallen onto the piano keys during the shoot, blending seamlessly with the frame and enhancing an effortless, natural beauty.

Doing cosplay truly requires on-the-spot inspiration and patient dedication, especially for shoots that rely heavily on atmosphere. From every lace pleat on the outfit and the angle of the bow tie to the color coordination of the flowers in the basket, the preparation phase took extensive refining. Yet the moment the preview photos came through, every ounce of effort felt worthwhile. The floral set was extraordinarily photogenic, and the stark black-and-white piano keys provided a crisp visual anchor for our theme.

Whether to recreate the character's cuteness or simply to record such a comfortable and serene set of photos, the entire journey was joyful. This series didn't chase grandiose scenes, offering only softly flowing light and a gentle, drowsy breathing rhythm. I hope viewers can also feel this tranquil, sleepy peace of an afternoon piano room.
