[Komeiji Koishi cosplay] Touhou Project: A Dreamlike Capture in a Hydrangea Sea of flowers photo shoot

This Komeiji Koishi cosplay look took considerable thought and care, from costume to props. For the wig, I selected a mint-green short curly style, requiring patient styling after putting it on to create airy, fluffy layering. For makeup, the focus was on red eyes and crimson lips, creating a striking visual contrast against the green hair and brown Lolita dress.

The costume's design is exceptionally rich in layers. The top features spliced brown-and-black fabric with a massive light brown bow on the chest, centered with a sapphire gem and trimmed with gold piping. Most striking are the sleeves, crafted with a multilayered bell-sleeve structure—dark lace on the inner layer and vintage-printed cream fabric on the outer layer, fluttering gracefully in voluminous layers with every step. The skirt is a multi-tiered dark green poofy skirt bordered with gold piping; the high-low asymmetrical cut completes the pairing of Black stockings and platform Mary Jane shoes seamlessly.

To honor the character lore, I prepared a blue spherical prop adorned with blue blossoms. Purple vines extend from the waist down across the skirt and legs, while blue blossoms accent the ankles, infusing an extra touch of whimsical fantasy into the overall look. The green sheer mesh on the wide-brimmed hat, coupled with wavy black lines along the brim, further accentuated the character's enigmatic aura.

The location chosen was a blooming hydrangea garden. To catch the optimal light, we shot around 3 to 4 in the afternoon. The blue and pink blooms provided a gorgeous natural backdrop. In Photo 1, I chose a crouching pose, which displayed the pleated folds of the skirt, the layered bell sleeves, and the leg contours clad in Black stockings all at once, while anchoring the floral sphere prop firmly as the visual centerpiece. In Photo 2, we utilized a white round garden table, sitting sideways while holding the prop, which paired with my gaze to evoke a serene, quiet ambiance. Photo 3 featured a standing pose, using blossoms in the foreground for soft bokeh to deepen the image depth.

Overall, this outdoor Sea of flowers photo shoot achieved wonderful chromatic harmony—mint green and the blue floral sea created a cool-toned resonance, while brown and dark green grounded the look with steady composure. Although moving outdoors with a multi-layered petticoat and long sleeves was somewhat sweltering, seeing the seamless fusion of light, shadow, and garment textures in the final cuts made all the hard work completely worthwhile.
