Today I cosplayed a maid-style spin-off outfit of Sandrone Alice from Genshin Impact. The costume had far more intricate details than expected: blue-and-white striped fabric paired with a crisp white apron, a black ribbon collar bow centered with a red heart, and playing card motifs adorning the skirt. To ensure the best visual quality on camera, I spent nearly an hour before heading out smoothing the lace and ruffles, flaring each layer of sheer fabric at the cuffs for volume, and fastening the black corset belt snugly in place.

During makeup, the eyes were the absolute focal point. To match the character's 2D anime aesthetic, I put in bright blue contact lenses. The eyeshadow relied on expansive blending in soft pink tones extending from the eye sockets up over the cheekbones, crafting an innocent, doll-like expression. A handy tip here: the outer edges must be diffused thoroughly with a clean blending brush, or the entire look will appear muddy. The base was kept sheer and fair, paired with a pale pink lip glaze to keep the face clean and draw primary focus to the eyes.

The shoot took place in an indoor studio set in Huizhou photography. The space was styled as a cozy kitchen featuring a wooden counter, a pink oven, cupcakes, and warm natural sunlight filtering softly through wooden blinds. The blue hue of the outfit looked exceptionally crisp against the warm ambient glow. The photographer had an intuitive grasp of the exact aesthetic I was aiming for. We prepared two small props: a wooden cat-shaped cutting board and a faux donut model.

In the first shot, I held the wooden board with both hands, fingers spread naturally, mainly emphasizing hand placement and facial emotion. In the second shot, I held a plate offering the donut toward the lens with a slight forward lean—a posture requiring relaxed shoulders and interactive warmth in the gaze. To showcase the layered structure of the skirt, I angled my body slightly sideways, capturing garment details without looking stiff. We tried various serving angles and found a slightly elevated high-angle perspective produced the most flattering result.

The soul of a maid outfit lies in crisp neatness and clean layering. If ruffles are creased, the photos lose their polished texture. So before shooting, I brought along a portable garment steamer to iron out every fold on the skirt. The black waist ornament with its red heart was the crowning touch; set against the blue-and-white stripes, it preserved classic maid motifs while breaking visual monotony. Throughout the shoot, I paid close attention to hand positioning; because the wooden board was relatively broad, raising it required forming a natural frame with my arms without obscuring my face.

For lighting, the photographer used a softbox as the key light complemented by a warm-toned fill on the side. This setup kept the blue-and-white palette from looking overly cold while letting the pink eyeshadow blend naturally into the skin. In post-production, we preserved the authentic color balance without aggressive grading, keeping the shoot's sweet, cozy atmosphere intact. From selecting the wardrobe and finalizing the makeup to communicating camera positions, everything went according to plan. This set is a tangible expression of my aesthetic take on Genshin Impact's Sandrone Alice, highlighting the character through simple sets and props rather than over-the-top digital effects. As someone who cosplays regularly while learning Sister-style photography behind the lens, I know a shoot's completion relies not just on makeup, but deeply on the harmony of expression and props. From steaming the fabrics to positioning the props, every step of today's working diary flowed seamlessly, delivering bright colors and a relaxed mood that makes this one of my favorite recent works.
