[Miyu (Swimsuit) cosplay] Blue Archive: Refreshing Summer Seaside Fishing Experience Sharing

I prepared this Miyu (Swimsuit) cosplay for quite a while. The theme of this shoot was the swimsuit look from Blue Archive (Swimsuit photo), so the overall keynote centered on summer refreshing vibes and seaside leisure. The costume is a custom light blue two-piece swimsuit featuring orange and green leaf prints, accented with an exquisite large white lace bowtie across the chest. The fabric is form-fitting, demanding on figure curves. To capture the character's demeanor, eye makeup featured high-pigment red contact lenses paired with deep red eyeshadow, with the hair styled into straight-bang twin braids that took a long time to shape and secure.

Because the shooting location was an outdoor concrete platform by the sea (Beach photography), the sunlight was exceptionally harsh, and sea breezes blew unpredictably. To keep the wig from getting disheveled, the assistant stood right behind me blocking the wind, holding that position for a long time. Wearing the straw hat easily cast shadows across my face, so we adjusted the brim angle repeatedly to find a camera angle that clearly revealed both the eyes and the chin contour, giving the face a more dimensional look.

The props were fully prepared this time: a long black fishing rod bag, an authentic fishing rod, as well as camping folding chairs and a table. I initially thought holding them would just be for show, but it turned out to be physically demanding. Especially when holding the long rod bag, its length compared to my height visually elongated body proportions, making holding posture and center of gravity essential. After every pose sequence, I had to rest a bit and relax my shoulders before moving on to the next take.

Especially later in the shoot, to flatter the leg lines and waist curve, I made many micro-adjustments per the photographer's guidance. For instance, subtle forward leans or shifting weight onto one leg heavily tested core strength, as they needed to appear effortless and natural without looking strained. While the seated pose holding the fishing rod looked casual, keeping the back from slouching required sitting upright, while also minding how light and shadow fell across the legs to maintain a fair, radiant skin tone. During the shoot, pigeons happened to fly over—completely unafraid of people, perching right at our feet. Capturing them nearby added vibrant life and playful charm to the frame.

In post-processing, we added a spinning dizziness icon effect overhead, complementing the character's dazed, adorably confused expression, perfectly evoking that lazy, spacing-out mood on a summer afternoon. Achieving great results in this Portrait photography session relied heavily on costume prep, prop choices, and teamwork. The slim cut of the outfit accentuated body proportions nicely, though seaside UV rays and salty breezes were tricky, requiring constant sunscreen reapplication, makeup touch-ups, and outfit checks. The color tone was adjusted to look crisp, clear, and bright; the light blue and white palette beautifully complemented the skin tone and made legs look slender. After spending half the day under the blazing sun, constantly adjusting poses, touching up makeup, and resetting hair, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile.
