[Tighnari cosplay] May Day Changsha Heatwave ACC: Forest Watcher Armed with a Hunting Bow Spotted

On the first day of May Day, I rushed straight to the Changsha ACC Comic Convention, cosplaying as Sumeru's Forest Watcher, Tighnari. I woke up at 6:00 AM to get my hair and makeup done. This wig actually requires a lot of styling work—a black hair base with bright neon-green highlights. To restore that fluffy and clean look, I adjusted the hair layering and flicked ends for a long time. Makeup focused heavily on the eyes and those jade-green contact lenses, paired with dark eyeliner to elongate eye shape, ensuring the eye makeup wouldn't look washed out under the intense convention highlights. What I was most satisfied with today was the detail accuracy of this Sumeru cosplay outfit. The dark blue top with neon green prints featured a pop of bright pink at the collar that really stood out against the subdued tones. The white badge with tassels on the chest was custom-made based on the original design; although small, its weighted drape was very accurate. The sunflower on the shoulder was also hand-fixed; to enhance realism, the edges of the flower core were aged slightly, blending harmoniously with the outfit's green elements visually.

For props today, I brought that gold-trimmed green hunting bow. Built with an acrylic-and-wooden-base structure, the hollow-out details on the bow arms were polished back and forth for a long time to simulate the fluid feel of leaves. The arrow featured a bright green shaft with a very stable center of gravity when held, allowing for natural nocking and drawing while in a crouching pose without slipping. I must mention today's tail! I specifically charged it up before heading out, and the electric tail truly made this Forest Watcher much more lively. Many cosplayers and fans coming for photo collection were very curious about this feature, gently touching the tail during photo ops to watch it sway, which greatly boosted the fun of interaction. Although maintaining the battery connection required some wiring arrangements, everything was hidden underneath the shirt hem, basically not affecting the movement range when posing.

The staging at Changsha ACC Comic Convention was especially great for photos—the hall had ample ceiling height and a strong sense of spatial depth, making snapshot captures effortlessly pack a punch of tension. Aside from static tripod setups today, walking around the hall I met many photographers with cameras; every shutter click was an affirmation of this outfit. Many passersby stopped to say "Tighnari is so handsome," and those moments were genuinely healing. Even though the Forest Watcher usually has a rather serious demeanor, the atmosphere on-site made it hard not to break character into laughter. That's what cosplaying is all about—from sourcing materials, crafting garments, and adjusting wigs, to finally standing fully outfitted in the venue, every step brings me closer to the character.

While leaving near the booth area at the end of the day, I was thinking that the bow prop should be packed away for now, but the next time I shoulder it, I will still be able to snap into character instantly. May in Changsha is already quite hot; the heavy fabric plus long coat meant I was constantly sweating underneath, but the moment I saw the Convention photos, it was absolutely worth it. The whole process was joyful, exploring the convention with fellow Genshin Impact fans and bumping into familiar acquaintances in the aisles. Today's shoot involved a lot of moving around, yielding so many photos that the memory card was almost full. This outfit carries a sharp presence, but it's also one of my most satisfying works to date. Although I was busy taking group photos and gathering Convention photos without much time to properly browse the booths, as a cosplayer, being recognized and taking photos with everyone is the greatest pleasure. No fancy filters needed—straight-out-of-camera shots already capture that vibrant yet secretly cool aura of the Sumeru rainforest.
