[Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay] Styling Old Clothes Anew: Venting About the Head Mask Being Too Big for the Headband

Here comes Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay "borrowing" Nilou cosplay's outfit! This time I dug out some old clothes bought a while ago to try on and switch up the vibe. When I first got this blue-and-white dress, I fell in love with its coloration and hem design. Although today is technically "borrowing" Nilou cosplay's clothes, the complete ensemble still radiates its own distinct charm. Because I'm wearing Kigurumi, the facial makeup and expression remain in a fixed anime doll state, and every time I put on the mask, I genuinely feel as if I've been instantly transported into another dimension.

The biggest thing I want to vent about this time is the head mask. Don't ask why there's no headband—the simple answer is the mask is too large for the headband to fit! People usually think Kigurumi masks, though made of rigid material, should be one-size-fits-all. But once you actually put it on, you realize there's a big disparity between the internal and external proportions, and outer circumference is noticeably broad; that headband accessory got stuck right across the forehead and wouldn't slide down, and forcing it risked deforming both the wig and mask shell. The only option was sticking separate bows onto the mask, or like today, simply leaving it off entirely to maintain the pure pink-to-blue gradient hair, which actually turned out much cleaner.

For shooting, I deliberately chose a seated pose on a chair to better showcase the pairing of white tights and white Mary Jane shoes. As a cosplay piece, the natural drape and subtle sheen of White stockings under the lights looked marvelous, perfectly matching the openwork lace trim and blue bows of the dress to create an airy visual feel. By the way, the dress uses remarkably lightweight fabric with copious pleats; fanning out naturally while seated delivered great visual impact. The pink hair and purple-eyed mask displayed even better light translucency indoors than under harsh lighting, creating rich dimensional depth.

This outfit is actually a traditional layered combination. From the lace collar of the upper bodice to the ruffled hem below, there are plenty of details, making it exceptionally photogenic once put on. Styling old clothes anew also revealed subtleties I hadn't noticed before—like the neatness of the cuffs and neckline; reviewing closely highlights the ingenuity of the design. White stockings paired with heels visually elongated the silhouette significantly, echoing the classic aesthetic logic of anime costuming. Usually, this outfit is worn for outdoor shoots, but snapping a few casual mirror selfies indoors proved how gorgeous the color fidelity and textile texture look on camera.

Maintaining and wearing Kigurumi usually takes extensive care, especially preserving the mask shell and avoiding strap pinch marks. Although wearing a mask and wig makes the head look larger and hindered wearing certain head accessories, as a roleplay experience, this contrast is quite charming. I hope to preserve the sheer joy of this Genshin Impact cosplay journey.
